A little bit of Kata training from this morning. After this I spent an hour being battered and bounced around as 'Uke' (attacker) for one for the students who grades in the summer.
Martial Arts in The Karate Kid & Cobra Kai Infographic
Did a simple infographic about the martial arts used in the series. It’s hard to summarise with just a few words. Hope you like it! 🤓
You can read more of martial arts trivia in the show at Den of Geek.

“I don’t think you’re taking into account that-” Eijirou pulled off his shirt, banged his fists together and widened his stance.
Still he was huge.
“You can’t intimidate me, Hair-For-Brains.” Katsuki hissed, lowering, nearly on all fours. “Mountains may not bow, but they can be demolished.”
“Does this still feel like battle talk, or does it have kind of a foreplay vibe to you?” Denki hissed.
Eijirou heard, laughed. “Getting jealous, Babe?”
“Nah!” Denki grinned. “I know I’m your only one, sweetheart!”
“Oi, fuck off!” Hanta shoved him. “I thought I was his only one!”
Eijirou cackled, eyes darting back to Katsuki. The atmosphere had changed. The challenge had become real, colder. Eyes were hot and fiery, fingers dug into the dirt as he sprang forward, Eijirou’s feet planted.
Fist met skin. Block, twist. Katsuki dipped under wide spread legs, hand wrapped around a throat, feet planted on his back. Mouth at his ear, voice low. Almost possessive. Almost jealous.
“Real fuckin’ flirtatious, aren’t you?”
Eyes went wide, pink dusted the tip of the freckled ear. Hands moved up and fingers scrambled for purchase. Kastuki smirked as he sprung off, flipping over his back, using the momentum to pull Eijirou forward and onto his head. At the last minute the mountain of flesh flipped, pouncing off his toes, landing on his feet, crouching over Katsuki, pinning him.
“What?” Eijirou smirked, hands tight around wrists, knees squishing thighs. “Didn’t think I’d be flexible?”
Two could play that game.

Because who doesn’t like a little wrestling to add to that sexual tension? Amiright? It gets intense after this. Lots of swelling, bleeding, bruises. Not at all sexy.
Bakugou does get his canon cut on his cheek from Kirishima though. The mountain does crumble, barely.

Kyokushin Kai
I managed to find my childhood karate sensei on social media and told him about my intent to start up karate again once I get back home. Since I’ve been stuck trying to choose between two clubs teaching different styles (Shotokan and Kyokushinkai), I asked him what style he taught me as a kid. This was a decade ago so I thought he might not even remember me! For a while I thought I learnt Shotokan but the katas didn’t match my memories, then I thought it was Goju Ryu. I was genuinely surprised to find out it was Kyokushikai. Unfortunately his classes in my area are just for children so he advised I go for the Kyokushinkai club as it’s what he taught me and Shotokan would have noticeable differences.
The Kyokushinkai club is a little further away but I’m actually really excited to start!
I'm so sad but so happy to see such a legend step down from competition. I've loved meeting him and watching him compete over the last few years. So close to the Olympic dream yet so far😭
