#repost @tonyvinhstagram This is Jenny, the sweetest owner ever of my favorite Korean restaurant by my home called Tofu Love. But six months ago a fire next door burned it down. After 20+ successful years in the restaurant business, her family told her to just retire, relax and enjoy the second half of her life. She said no, because cooking for her customers is the only way she knows how to relax and enjoy life. So she and her husband spent the past summer fixing the place up and starting over fresh. They reopened this weekend under the name, Chadolpoong. I don’t know what it means. But I do know this– the name, menu and interior of the restaurant may be all new, but the food and Jenny’s cooking is still the same and delicious as ever...😋. I’m so happy she’s back that I even ordered two meals and ate it all. I am sure a lot of you might know BCD Tofu, but for a better and more authentic taste, you should stop by Beverly Tofu House.  

Not to bash on BCD, I mean, I occasionally enjoy it for a late night snack, but I want to talk about a better alternative (taste-wise at least).

This place is a little small, so you might want to try to beat the meal rush if you plan on going.

Beverly Tofu House’s claim to fame is being the first made-to-order soon tofu spot in LA. They have been around for over 30 years, and have been running pretty strong.

They were featured on Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown, which is prominently displayed.

Their kalbi, or short ribs, were generously seasoned, just the way I like it.

What really makes them stand out is not just the quality of their ingredients, but the intensity and brilliance of their soup broth.  The tofu is only as good as how well prepared the broth is, and that is what separates them from the rest.

Although Beverly Tofu House is not conducive to a large crowd, it is a nice place to bring a friend or two just to catch up and enjoy some solid Korean soft tofu.  Being in the heart of Koreatown, this is a nice place to start off the weekend.
