so i noticed a bit of contradiction in general helluva boss criticisms

"The writers completely forgot about the premise of the show about imp assassins on Earth"

And yet a common criticism of the latest Assassination job episode is that M&M's plot should have been shortened in favour of Blitz's B plot with his sister.

And, truthfully, i agree with both points. It's frustrating that we deviated so much from the initial premise so quickly with a consequence of abandoning basically half of the main cast in favour of new shinier secondary characters. AND i agree that Blitz's relashionship with Barbie should have taken priority over Moxxie's comedy hour (which especially stings since the show avoided any other good opportunities to show us Barbie, like in Circus or Oops).

Which makes me think that there could be a better way to phrase the general frustration I have with the show's plot.

The problem is not exactly that the show abandoned assassination plots, but how insignificant they are to the show's serialized plots. The writers seem to not know how to connect the premise with the relationship plotlines that they want to write, so all the important stuff ends up happening either outside of the assassination jobs or in hell or both. So the assassination plot that we do get end up feeling filler-y and uninteresting in comparison to All The Important Stuff.

And the other frustrating thing is that they can make the Earth assassination plots important in their own right by picking up the unfinished plot points like the Dhorks agents hunting them down or the fallen Cherubs who allegedly still on Earths, but nooo
