Kazuichi Soda is just so...Fascinating to me, purely by accident on Kodaka's part It was pointed out on @demilypyro's banger ass lets play of DRG 2 but someone who was written as weirdly obsessed about women in 2012 has wrapped around into 'unknowingly has gender envy to the point it hurts but doesn't know that's an option' There's surface level stuff like the pink (fuchsia?) hair dye and how Kazuichi's eyes are styled to look like they have eyeliner But if you read into some of the dialogue it becomes shockingly apparent Whenever Kazuichi talks about women, for more than a few boxes it starts reading less sexual and more seeing women (or one long suffering, vaguely european woman in particular) as an idol, someone and something to strive for, like how Kazuichi says that if given a chance, after undressing a woman, the first (and really only thing) talked about would be our Ultimate Engineer just admiring said woman's bone structure Granted there are times where Soda does lean more into the usual sex stuff- god damn it Kodaka - and I am perhaps influenced by @sophibeans's frankly amazing acting as 'Pre-Egg Cracked Kazuichi' and as evident in a lot of the other writing like Chiaki's talking about Chihiro and the 'easter egg' on Master Program Obelisk Alter-Ego that crustily says 'not female' (although as that is a cognitohazard I henceforth shall imagine it as 'Hot Tamale' as joked in the pre-penultimate stream) and Teruteru existing that all of this is verrrrry much an outlier
The point being is that Kazuichi would sing Radiohead's Creep with a lot of energy and after she finally transitions she rewatches a recording of that and go '...well shit, there were signs'
