And that being Billy’s favorite outfit b/c it’s the outfit he remembers his Mom wearing/loving and he just wants to be closer to her 🥺

I wonder if she had a leather jacket, too? I'm gonna pretend that she did. And that she used to put it on little Billy and tell him how handsome he looked, and how cool and grown-up. And then one day she left, and took the leather jacket with her.
The first time he wears a leather jacket of his own (from a second hand store, and it's too big on him but he buys it to grow into), he tries to feel handsome and cool and grown-up ... but he only misses her.
He DOES eventually grow into it, though. And it brings comfort, too, the way any shield does.
