(Sorry y’all I just suddenly teared up for no reason and then suddenly I was writing this while very choked up, with no discernible reason as to why this occurred.)
(THIS ISN’T CANON OKAY THEY’RE FINE I SWEAR GOD I HAVE NO IDEA WHY I WROTE THIS OR WHAT POSSESSED ME TO WRITE IT)
Haley screamed. She screamed as Malum crashed to the floor, his head making a terrible cracking sound as it hit, his body going limp. Black blood poured from his chest, from the gash that had ripped it apart.
She didn’t think to move but her legs did anyway, and before she processed her own movement she was clutching him, pulling him into her lap. “No, no no no! Please-” she choked on a sob, and as she opened her mouth to speak more all that happened was short, sharp, painful inhales as more sobs tore out of her.
Malum was still. He stared up at nothing, the slight movement of his eyes the only indication that there was still a bit of life left in him.
“Stay-stay with me,” Haley begged as she held him. “Please just stay- stay, stay!”
Malum’s clouded eyes flicked to Haley. His hand twitched, but even that was so weak it was barely perceptible. Haley grabbed it, squeezed it, kissed it. “I love you,” she said, tears running down her face like rivers in a flood. “I-I always will. I love you so-”
She couldn’t finish her sentence before disolving into sobs once more.
Malum’s faint grip on her hands faded.
He faded.
He was gone.
Haley clutched his body, shaking and crying, holding him so tight that it would bruise a human.
Haley screamed. She held him, she held her husband, her love, her best friend, and she screamed.
She felt a hand on her shoulder. “It’s going to be okay.”
A flash of rage burned through Haley’s grief.
Mary spoke again. “The magic, or whatever it did to you, it’ll wear off. You’ll-”
Haley stood up and ripped the dagger from Mary’s hands. She stood, still, facing the woman who murdered Malum.
Mary held her hands up in front of her. “Please, just calm-”
Haley drove the dagger into Mary’s heart.
She fell to the ground. Her head made a sickening crack.
Haley stared, seething, her whole body burning with hatred.
