OKAY so i wanna talk a little more in depth about some of my anthro pokemon ideas and characters because i dont wanna just speak vaguely about them and post random art forever and keep all my actual information abt them kept on th or my google docs hehe
overall i wanna make a bunch of stories abt this anthro pokemon universe where they live in mostly civilized societies, and often are divided by species & strength & stats & most of types! and weaker pokemon with worse stats or more vulnerable types often struggle more in the society.
i’ll talk more abt my thoughts under the cut :D
this started with me wanting to make a story specifically abt grass type pokemon because they are by far my favorite type!!! but also they have by far the most weaknesses 💔
i wanted to call it hidden power grass and that would be it, but then i got carried away and started writing characters and ideas for other types, like hidden power water or hidden power fire. so the project i have in my head is just called hidden power comic for now
i started liking pokemon when i was pretty young, i think six years old? it was when the pokemon black & white anime was coming out. even though unova is my favorite region and it was what got me into the games, my first mainline pokemon game was actually pokemon y , because i got introduced to pokemon through the anime.
and my all time favorite pokemon was snivy! because of ash’s snivy. i thought she was so cool and cute, i loved the episode where she ran away from ash and taunted him when he failed to catch her, before he eventually beat her with his pidove and she earned his respect. even though pokemon y was my first actual pokemon game, pokepark 2 wonders beyond was the first pokemon game i played as a kid, because you could play as snivy and my little kid brain went wild with excitement. (you could also play as pikachu and the other unova starter pokemon who i loved!!!)
but anyway i always loved to draw, so i would write and draw a bunch of stories about my favorite Pokemon, sort of anthropormorphic. they would live in homes, speak, walk on two legs, generally act like humans, but they did not wear clothes and sort of still lived outside.
the main characters in the main story i would draw were a snivy and a chikorita. the snivy was tough, cold, and independent, and the chikorita was sweet, clingy, and affectionate. and they were roommates and best friends! they also had other friends and boyfriends but who cares abt them
now that im older snivy is still my favorite Pokemon, and i love chikorita sm! but lately ive found that i like servine and bayleef’s designs a bit more than snivy / chikorita’s and serperior / meganium. maybe when im like 30 i’ll like serperior and meganium more…
so thats the main reason why i drew venus and blossom below! they’re like the snivy and the chikorita grown up
they live in a small unincorporated community with other grass-type pokemon called wisteria woods. i imagined in the hidden power grass universe, there are frequent Outbreaks, where large masses of wild / random pokemon wander about or gather outside in search of food or experience.
since venus and blossom live in the woods, and there’s a lot of Flying, Bug, and Poison type outbreaks in the woods, the Grass type pokemon have to be really careful not to go outside much during those outbreaks because they have lots of super effective moves that will hurt them!!! unless they train to become stronger and learn more moves of course
my idea for venus and blossom rn is that they met online as a snivy and a chikorita, and used to live in very different places and not so great homes. wisteria woods is affordable and has other grass types like them so they decided to live there together!
then a lot of outbreaks start happening and they’re unable to leave the house, and they start running into conflicts then. one idea i had was that venus gets sick because she’s a carnivore and no other grass-type who lives in the woods needs meat, so there’s a meat shortage and she starts starving!!!
most other grass type Pokemon are omnivores, herbivores, insectivores, or are just straight up plants, so they don’t need to eat meat. for example, bayleef is based on sauropod dinosaurs, which were herbivores, so blossom is a vegetarian. servine is based on vine snakes, which are carnivores. i imagine venus is an omnivore by choice, but if she were to go vegan or something she would die
of course blossom is scared because her bff is dying and there’s no meat anywhere nearby and everyone is scared to go out because of the outbreaks. so they have to get stronger and learn more moves so they can actually defend themselves. maybe they have to start hunting pokemon too? im still thinking alot hehe
those are just some of my ideas for the grass type story so far! i got kinda carried away writing for characters and stories for some of the other types like fire and fighting, as well as sort of “spin offs” with titles based on other moves
for example maneki the persian and fraser the lopunny are in sort of a spin off story called return favor, where maneki befriends fraser so he can be protected, and also so he can harness the strength of the move return / return favor! which gets stronger the more the user likes their trainer
and i have a lot more ideas and character stuff i have written down but i dont wanna ramble too much in just one post lol… thank u so much if u read the whole thing :’)
