Odds and Ends
People sometimes wanted to use discouraging words to describe Craig, words like sneaky and two-faced, and he thought that was very unfair. He had his methods, sure, and they weren’t always as clear-cut as some, but in the end wasn’t he just an honest man trying to make a living, just like everyone else?
Sure, he thought. A thief doesn’t have to be a bad person, and whoever says otherwise, well, fuck ‘em.
As such, a few days before the champion’s cup, Craig set up shop in Conifer with very different wages in mind - wagers, as a matter of fact. The makeshift “shop” was in fact little more than Craig hanging out of his wagon, taking bets for the winners of the cup.
Some might call it skullduggery; Craig called it opportunistic.
He’d already taken a hefty sum in, and he was keen on making as much profit throughout the tournament as was possible. And maybe share a little gossip, of course.
Ah, yes. War, hardship, and superficial contests - the ultimate gold mines.
