no one’s been able to write a truely strong FMC in a dystopian/fantasy novel since Katniss Everdeen. i fear every female lead now is characterized as a “warrior princess” but is just a pick me and needs their big, buff (heavy emphasis on the buff) MMC to save them in battle. suzanne collins was the only one able to write a badass female main lead who is so loving that she is strong because of that, and we don’t acknowledge that enough.

I hate people saying that suzanne collins approve a casting to defend white washing in the the hunger games movies.

“she needs to look like film Katniss!” i fear you missed the bigger picture and implications of a government kidnapping a black/brown girl and using her as a replacement and how putting a white girl in her place changes the social commentary. Seriously look up MMIW and how white woman vs women of color get treated when they go missing. Especially by the government.
