I was playing Seven Soul Symphony, and I was like... well, this game is pretty, but it's not that scary... and then I got to the part where you have to go through the prison to find the caged head ghost, and the part where the music gets all creepy... It was scary!
You're right as heck there, up until then it's a lot of neat scenery and finding new ghost buds, but the dev really tried some neat stuff in there!
That whole area has a lot of neat stuff going for it, like various cells in that building can shut on you (though nothing really happens beyond wasting your time, it can still make for a tense moment :P) and I really enjoyed the wheelchair following you around after you find the ghost- I'm a sucker for just out of sight gags like that both for fear or humor (as it quickly becomes when the fear wears off).
I liked this game :) I can't say it scared me much but that's just because of where my head was at by the scariest bits (like the prison)- I had worked out that this wasn't the kind of game to attack me in any way-
A bit lame to meta-game it like that, but I couldn't help but lose a lot of the tension by the time I found most of the ghosts and ran into no threats. But that did make me get more than a bit shocked during the finale!
I jumped seeing my ghost pop out of me during the symphony not once, but twice before I recorded the earlier post lol
Even knowing it was coming got me, and the way the music twists as you stumble back home is fantastic! :D
