She’s Just A Brooklyn Girl, living in LA of course, where else? Seriously can’t take away that BK-vibe from folks who’ve grown, struggled n’ blossomed in BK -- like Cherokee, or from wherever for that matter. As long as it’s authentic, homed, sincere and meaningful, music supposed to reflect one’s life, no matter the tense. But there’s something special about this new LP, similar to the unique ground broken from her previous I Love You...Me and Soul Parade of yesteryear.
Elmore James - Screamin’ Blues [1977; Soul Parade]
Collecting nine songs from Elmore James’ catalog, including one from his very first single (B-side “Dust My Broom”), this compilation show-cases his Chicago-style blues, with amped guitar and sizable backing bands. Horns, piano, dobro guitar, bass, drums, and more join in on the slow-cruising tunes, with the pulse of the lead guitar and sly soulfulness of James’ vocals providing the main driving energy. The songs are kept brief, with just a third running over three minutes, but the moody character packed into each song helps them feel larger, and despite the collection as a whole just barely scraping past 25 minutes, it makes for a decent introduction to and overview of James’ music.
Day 1 (Getting back to the writing because it became a grade)
For my innovations in technology class I was told to write 500 words a day (Morning pages they call them) So I might as well be posting them on Tumblr now that I have to write. I really stopped writing because I didn't have time to write not so much because I don't want to. I never stopped being creative I'm always thinking "what if" and the whole alternate universe type of deal. Not that I live with regret its just fun thoughts here and there. Sometimes I let myself think about that and really throw myself into that universe and have complete stories of what would of happened if I did something different and the entire chain of events that would follow it up. Anyways I think this the morning pages will relieve some stress and help me be a bit more creative. Maybe I will write how my day went or I start writing a story. 500 words at a time. Really depends on how I feel as long as its 500 words plus. Also, I'm going to try to be a lot less edgier and try not to give meaning to shit that probably doesn't have meaning in the first place(You know what I mean?). A big mistake that has made me enjoy life much less is reading into things or getting worried about things that may not happen. Kinda thinking sometimes everything happen for a reason. Not anymore, I still believe that you shouldn't give meaning to everything and by that I mean all the small little details that we were taught to pay attention too. Live life and enjoy it, good things happen bad things happen deal with it appropriately period. I'm mostly talking bad about past me how I tired to be deep, edgy, dramatic cause something went wrong. Not gonna lie I look at my old post from two years ago and I cringe a little. So I got an Idea for tomorrow so let me recap life a bit. I am 23 now finishing my degree in computer science while taking courses in International securities studies to ensure that I can study my Masters in that. I currently have two jobs which I enjoy(One not so much) I am a GED teacher for the El Paso public libraries (Plenty of stories here) and I am a programmer for COURI (Center of undergraduate research initiative) in which is mostly code in CakePHP (Native PHP as well) and JavaScript. At night I jam in a band called Soul Parade and we have songs on Youtube and we play a decent amount of shows throughout the year. I enjoy playing Yu gi oh despite my age and I try to fit time for video games and all that random stuff kids my age are into. Hopefully I won't bore or annoy any of you. In the case that I do well you can stop reading really. Also don't be a grammar nazi I don't spell check and I just write the first thing that comes to mind. You might notice I repeat certain words a lot... That's my slang.

We had so much fun playing this show
Soul Parade, Light of day, A day in the life and perhaps a little in between
I'm feeling a bit nostalgic today being that I was listening to some of the bands that I was into in high school. Also this weather, when its cold I tend to look back at previous winters. It just feels nice you know, a sense of perfection almost. Now if it could only last forever>.> As we last left off with Soul Parade. We ended up kicking Joseph out. It wasn't only because he was not there in a very important show. He also wouldn't go to practice as much either and it would really slow down the song writing process. We would be very hesitant to write new music if our other songs were not finished. So it really came down the band being with my best friends, my brother and josh. For the time being, we had a show last night and we did alright. The crowd had "OK" energy and we played decent. I was bother a bit with my brother wanting to rush during the chorus's of certain songs(That tends to happen when you get pumped during a song). Still we will still do a couple of shows here and there for the time being that we get our new member up to speed. So if I haven't mentioned it before, yeah we have a new member. This person is talented at the keys and this person's voice amazing. Maybe I'm being biased, but the last couple of practices have gone well. I guess for other people the voice might be subjective but the piano skill is there. There was a song that we have been working on for a while and we finally finished it with keys. Two practices in and we already have one brand new song to record for this January. We still have another song Idea of mine but I think I want to release it in two parts later, I don't know. This song idea of mine is going to be called Seasons:Fall (Fall being part 1). As mentioned before I believe its about coping with change. Since it was piano heavy I wasn't able to fully teach it to Joseph. It involved left and right hand in piano not just the right. The person learning it is going to have to understand the coordination for certain parts since I didn't write it on music sheets. Still the person that I was teaching it to was able to catch on quick at least for the intro. The rest should be extremely easy(As you can tell I'm pretty confident with said person). Now we can play it live and most likely record it. This is an Idea that I've had for a while but its really hard to be able to play drums and Keys at the same time. Its better if I don't try to do that. It was a Tuesday morning sometime around November. I remember introducing Erik to someone and telling that he was my bass player for my A lucky tragedy. He was in a rush saying that he had to go to a Job interview so it wasn't such a proper introduction. Perhaps I jinxed it because later that day Erik quit the band. No animosity or anything bad its just he got a full time job along with school so he would never be able to do shows or practice. It was at some call center close by and they were giving out 40 hours with a dollar above minimum to anyone that really wanted money. None of us were pissed really, out of everyone in the band he was very replaceable. Not in a negative way or anything. He didn't suck, he played bass and did not really contribute to the song writing process so it was a lot easier to bring someone in and teach them the new songs and what not. The real question was who? For a very long time it was really hard to pick someone who was good and consistent. Mostly consistent that is the major concern for getting anyone in music. People can get good and at some point get it eventually, Being able to show up often and make the shows is another story. Essentially why would I want someone amazing if they cant make shows or practice? So as the remaining three we all agreed to get front man from a band called My Anima Andres Rubio in the band. He agreed and was pretty excited at first being that A lucky Tragedy had a good reputation. His band My Anima was having trouble getting members at the moment so he was able to have both bands for a while. We at this time we didn't focus so much on writing music or anything. It really became more about getting ready for a couple of shows that were coming up especially the Hanks battle of the bands. So this is the part of the semester that starts to get pretty tough as always. I am always tired and I lose interest in many things I usually enjoy doing. Certain songs aren't as catchy anymore and certain games bore me now. I guess I get more picky or need something new. Still waking up around 7 or 8ish in the morning is never pleasant. Especially if you have been doing it for 3 months now. Today wont be as pleasant either since I'm going to have t go to UTEP after I get out of the library. I guess I sort of expected to go to UTEP during the weekend because of my Software class. Maybe I should study>.>
