It’s not quite as loud of a warning as you would think, but just enough to garner the person’s attention. Gonta himself is not one for starting conversations out of nerves, but this is one exception. Instead of looking at them, he’s looking at their head-- or rather, the creature situated on top, gently opening and closing a pair of pale yellow wings. 

A butterfly.

“Gonta is sorry, but it’ll fly away if there’s any sudden movements! You have to be careful not to scare them.”

Celestia walked down the path, walking with an elegant stride to make sure everyone who saw her knew she was a lady. As she walked through the city, she noticed someone... far too familiar.

Stopping in her tracks, she turned towards her and folded her hands in front, trying to keep her expression even. It was too easy for her to do just that.

“Oogami-san? Is that truly you?”

❝Fuck off. Please.❞Those words are a desperate plea rather than a snarled demand–the angry snap they should have been. His walls are beyond salvage right now, broken beneath pressures that are too much to bare, even with his broad shoulders. It’s a choked sob that catches in his throat when a gentle hand rests against his shoulder, firm and capable of breaking him, but it doesn’t even when it should.

His name is gentle on her tongue and it shatters him, breaks him down into heaving sobs, but he’s a child who has no right to cry and self hatred can only swell in his chest, constricting his lungs like a venomous snake before it bites. She wasn’t supposed to find him like this–no one was. He doesn’t deserve this sympathy, not when he’s a murderer twice and somehow wrong in everything he is.

I wonder. The notion that it was easier to do difficult things alone had no real logic to it but it'd stuck fast. Unlearning that was an arduous process-- she feared that relying on others would make her look weak. But there's a fine difference between weakness and vulnerability, and the latter is never necessarily a sin.
