The Mic Drop
Okay I have some quick issues I need to discuss so I'm just gunna rant this can be completely ignored but whatever. (Sadly on my tablet I have not figured out the technique to acquire pictures in a post so bare with me.) Anyway here I go. So I have a major issue with the dropping of a mic as a sound technician who gets to work with these beautiful pieces of equipment and let me tell you THEY ARE FRAGILE THINGS THAT CANNOT ALWAYS HANDLE HITTING THE FLOOR. These things are delicate and dropping a microphone of any kind can seriously damage or break or even shatter the inner workings of a microphone. I know it looks cool, trust me, I've wanted to do it, but they're such delicate little things that dropping them can shatter their very souls and no one wants that. I know no one asked for this but it is a thing that bothers me so I thought I would educate a little bit. (Even though that probably wasn't as informative as I anticipated it would be.....) But the point is please do not actually drop microphones. They have delicate hearts, and we'd hate to break them. It's like watching your best friend's heart shatter because they're significant other wasn't careful with them. It's painful to watch and the only one who doesn't notice the damage they have done is the ignorant one who hurt them in the first place. So please be kind to microphones.... They're like your best friend if you want to be heard. Okay. Sad rant over. Sorry for your time.
I had a Tech Crew nightmare.
I had a dream I was so busy helping out back stage that i completely forgot about the sound effects! I'M THE ONLY SOUND PERSON IN MY SCHOOL It was the final dress rehearsal (we invite senior citizens) and i didn't even have a script and then all these girls kept coming up to me because their character shoes were making their heels bleed and i wanted to help them put bandaids on and clean them up but the Artistic Director and the Director were worried it would take too much time. The worst part is i had a bottle of pills in my back pocket that made noises when i walked.
