Steve Harrington would be amazing at stage crew/tech theater.

Hear me out, we all saw how good he was making sound effects for the Rockin’ Robin radio show, I want to see him crashing out over someone onstage missing a cue that ruined what he had to do next. He would probably be sound (obviously) (or maybe lights?) but I could also see him building and painting sets.

Like imagine him staring at Eddie acting onstage and missing something he was supposed to do. Or him being spotlight and accidentally drifting the light over to him on the stage.

And then him helping out the younger crew members?? Like Dustin?? AAAH that would be so cute. Dustin is definitely run crew or backstage sound.

Robin being lights feels right. But maybe costumes? Her and Steve both work in the balcony and talk about Eddie and Vickie who are both actors maybe??

Oh and Erica is stage manager, she would be telling everyone what to do backstage. And her, Steve, Dustin, and Robin would argue on the walkie talkies.

I shall draw this soon.

If anyone wants to write something like this PLEASE DO IT or has found a fic like this PLEASE GIVE IT TO ME (it does not have to be Steddie, I will take anything with stage crew Steve) I would write it but I’m not great at writing.

Hey, theatre kids? Hi, me again with another public service announcement about performer etiquette.

I don't care if you're the teachers/directors' favourite. I don't care if you're playing a lead. I don't care who you are really, treat your stage management team and fellow actors with fucking respect.

You don't like somebody in your cast? That's fine, but don't go spreading false rumours about them to everybody.

You don't care for the members of stage management? Well first of all, fuck you too, and secondly, don't talk shit about them when they're in the same room as you. Don't talk shit about us full stop actually, you're show would fall apart without us.

A new cast member asking a lot of questions, and it's kinda bothering you? Don't tell them to shut up to their fucking face, answer them and help them out.

I can't believe I even have to ask this? I feel like this should be common sense? But I'm watching things happen in our musical cast right now, and I feel like I need to give a friendly reminder.

I just know the school forced his ass to do an extra curricular activity to graduate because he “needs” to socialize. And I know he joined stage crew for the school musical. And I KNOW he runs that shit like the military.

“Guess who’s together again,” Sam asked, newspaper in hand, holding it up in the air.

Sheyla stopped mid-chew and looked at him, confused.

Sam slammed the paper onto the table. Her salad jumped. Sheyla sighed.

“Atlas and Reeves.”

Sheyla choked. Actually choked.

Sam nodded solemnly. Yeah. That bad.

Sheyla swallowed, reached across the table, and ripped the newspaper out of his hands.

No.

Nope.

Absolutely not.

Those two despised each other.

And yet, there it was. J. Daniel Atlas and Henley Reeves standing next to each other, smiling—smiling, with two other guys beside them.

“What the fuck,” Sheyla murmured, opening the paper, trying to make sense of it.

“Don’t bother. They don’t say shit,” Sam said, clearly having read every word already.

“The Horsemen?” Sheyla stared in disbelief. “That man couldn’t keep an assistant for more than three weeks, and now he’s part of a team?”

“And with Henley Reeves?” they said together, horrified.

They couldn’t believe it.

They stared at each other.

Then back at the paper.

J. Daniel Atlas—‘Do I have to do your job for you?’

And Henley Reeves—‘Who hired you?'

“I give them two weeks. Tops,” Sheyla finally said. The shock had worn off, but she still stared at the newspaper like it might magically erase itself—like this was all a prank and the paper would evaporate.

The next week was their mandatory Love Island night.

Sheyla had made popcorn. Sam was already halfway through it when a commercial cut in.

On-screen. Smiling. Inviting everyone to their show.

“Oh, absolutely not,” Sheyla said, rolling her eyes so hard it hurt. She booed the TV and hurled a handful of popcorn at it.

She turned to Sam, fully expecting backup.

Sam was quiet. Sheepish.

“Should we go to…?”

Sheyla stared at him. “You want to go?”

“Hey,” Sam said, hands up, defensive. “They were two little shits, but they were good.”

“Are you forgetting the Missing Light Incident?” Sheyla snapped. “Little shits is short for the monsters they were.”

“To be fair,” Sam said slowly, “that one was kind of my fault—”

“He did not have to curse you out in front of everyone, Sam.”

“Okay, so he has a temper. Big deal.”

Sheyla narrowed her eyes at him. Something clicked.

“…You already went, didn’t you?”

Sam looked back at the TV.

Did not answer.

“Oh my God,” Sheyla said. “You did.”

“It was just once!”

“You traitor.”

“They comped the tickets!”

Sheyla grabbed another handful of popcorn and pelted him with it.

Thinking about today when one of my theatre directors started talking about the ao3 maintenance going “I just wanted to read my gay firefighter fanfiction!!” very loudly while my dumbass is just trying to paint fucking whoville behind her

high school theatre is an actual fever dream.
