Moze had made sure to stay by Jiaoqiu's side at nights. Of course, he still needed to work and mostly did so at night, but when he didn't work, he stayed nearby. Actually, he did that during any available free time. When the Shadow Guard sleeps himself is unknown, but then, that's nothing new.
This night, it's good that he does this since it's one of those nights when Jiaoqiu gets gripped by yet another nightmare.
As soon as Moze hears the change of breathing, the increased restlessness with how he moves in his bed, he leaves his spot on the roof and slinks inside the house. A shadow emerges from the closed window and he steps up to the bed. By then, Jiaoqiu is already awake, panicking.
Knowing what helps, Moze immediately grabs his hand, knowing the foxian recognises his hand, with or without gloves. Eventually, he seems to calm down and the Shadow Guard relaxes slightly.
"Hoolay is dead. You are safe."
Of course, Jiaoqiu already knows this, but Moze reminds him anyway and will continue to do so each time it's needed.

✷ The systematic mashing of keys sounded incredibly like an ominous, thrilling tune, something more suitable on all hallow's eve rather than at a cozy internet cafe with the sun melting down through the sky as backdrop.
Haruka remembered choosing Happy Net Cafe because it was near a coffee place he'd particularly liked and at the time, his apartment's wifi had been down for a week. Now, it felt like a piece of home with the supreme class of the technology it was equipped with. Glory felt so much smoother here.
But... how did this happen? Haruka gritted his teeth as he whipped his mouse across the pad, sending his elementalist mage, FarFished, dashing through the forest terrain as it desperately evaded a pack of gnarling beasts that were certainly a bit (way) above his level. Running was already taking all of his efforts. He couldn't afford to stop and do a mobile cast of spells and deplete half his movement speed. It didn't help that he hadn't bound himself to a resurrection point either.
A feeling of dread flowed through him like molten lava; slow and consuming. Haruka couldn't even remember how he'd gotten lost here, the forest a dense maze, but getting out seemed like a quest in itself now.
"Damn it..." If he died here, he'd likely lose all his equipment too. Level 65 orange equipment would be a prey for hungry eyes after all.
A rustle of leaves sent his heart racing into overdrive and a curse sat on his lips, waiting to complete the picture of impending doom. Danger laid, undoubtedly, in all directions.

⌈ ━━━━━━ Su-hyeok felt himself chuckle as he watched his best friend jump after he put his hands on his sides and tickled him. he then grinned down at the boy before pulling up an unoccupied seat since no one was around.
"Sorry, sorry...but it's your fault, you made it too easy for me to tease you."
he then spun the chair around until the back of it faced his friend and straddled it, his arms rested comfortably over the top, and smirked over at Cheong-san.
"Now, mind telling me why you're couped up in this empty room? don't tell me that idiot Yoon Gwi-Nam is messing with you again. I'll kick his ass." ⌋

A slow amble down the side of the road the young Shinobi was unbothered by the heat of the summer sun. Instead she was singing to herself, each step was a bounce as the Wutian pop song left her lips. “Started the day like yesterday, took a bite out of bread with an iced americano in my head, I’m exhausted. I saw this subway scene last night in my dream, oh right, it’s every day - never mind.”
That was the thing, outside of Wutai she was pretty sure that no one was going to understand what it was she was saying, or that it would give her identity away. Didn’t matter, she hadn’t seen a person in hours. There was no one out here. While she was aware that the world was in chaos, there was an ease to her being. There was no one telling her what to do, there was no one telling her that she was meant to be doing, or how she was meant to be acting, and her father wasn’t here to tell her that she was shit at everything she did.
Honestly, life outside of the palace was good. Even if it meant a long walk and staying in some real dingy hotels and not knowing how you were going to make money. All of that uncertainty seemed better than the uncertainty at home. While she was busy mentally considering her luck, a noise reached her ears, spinning on the spot she looked for the offending vehicle. Huh. People?
They had to be going somewhere right?
With that she took a few steps backwards, and stuck a thumb out. Hopefully she could catch a ride, and after all, who would live a young teenager in a moogle hat out here on her own? Sometimes peoples need to help others was useful.

Of course he had remembered right. These types of details are the kind Huaisang is good at, remembering a person's likes and dislikes, even after over a decade. Plus they had eaten these pastries on more than one occasion during their short stay at Cloud Recesses together.
"Good! I'm pleased I remembered correctly, Wei-xiong. I also brought some Qinghe peanuts." Although peanuts aren't the main crops in Qinghe, the ones growing there are known for their high quality. "I have no wine though," he adds. He might be a sect leader, but Huaisang still fears the wrath of Lan Qiren. No one can make him feel like a boy again like the Lan Elder and one of his disappointing glares.
"If you're sure, I'd love to, Wei-xiong, but I don't want to impose." Wei Wuxian had already guessed mostly right about his involvement in Jin Guangyao's fall, but Huaisang has been the Headshaker for so long that it is impossible for him to fully let go of that persona. Not that it is an entire lie, but it should be clear to them both that Huaisang had come here to spend some time with a man that once was his friend and who would hopefully become one again. Even if he also had sect business to attend as well

He had been cleaning his glasses as they were putting away and folding laundry, lint flying everywhere. A pink brow lifted and he replaced his black rimmed glasses on his nose.
"I do now? I thought we were a team? How does this look?" Kimizuki was joking a little, he'd always dote on his boyfriend, and he loved to see Yoichi smile. Folding a few shirts, he hummed to himself. "Tell you what, we get this done and you can have me for the rest of the night, hmm?"

Ever since Moze had found the severely injured Jiaoqiu, he had barely left his side. Only when Feixiao needed him or he had to perform any other duties did he let the foxian healer out of his senses.
The Shadow Guard might not admit to anyone that Jiaoqiu is his friend, not even fully to himself, but having seen him like that, at the brink of death, had shaken him to his core. Not that Moze hadn't seen death before. He had seen, and caused it, plenty of times. No, death on its own wasn't the cause for the disturbance in him, but the fact that everyone he came to care for ended up dying. Ended up abandoning him. Not that he would admit this either, nor did he fully comprehend that that was the reason since there was a second, just as strong reason. He had failed to protect Jiaoqiu. He had failed to rescue him from Hoolay. Yes, keeping Feixiao safe is his main task, but Feixiao needs Jiaoqiu. The healer is not expendable. Unlike himself.
Since their return to the Yaoqing, Jiaoqiu kept telling them he is okay and Moze truly wants to believe him, but how can anyone be okay after all that? After going through nearly dying and whatever horrors Hoolay put him through. No, he couldn't be okay. He is probably trying to hide it all. Jiaoqiu is a master at acting, unlike Moze himself.
Which is why Moze moves faster than he ever has before when he notices the foxian healer walking straight towards an edge. And not any edge. An edge known for being a good spot to go into the next realm, so to speak.
"Don't," he says, his voice alarming as he grabs Jiaoqiu.
The confusion on the man's face seems real, but is it really? Moze takes in every detail of his expression, including how his ears are moving. It seems genuine. Had he truly just walked here by mistake? Had Moze overreacted?
Pulling the foxian back a bit, he then let's go, hiding the slight tremor in his hands by folding them across his chest. "You almost stepped over the edge," he ads, keeping his worrying suspicions to himself. If Jiaoqiu finds out that Moze worries about him to such a degree that he believes him capable of drastic measures, he'd probably put up an even stronger mask of 'everything is fine'. Moze doesn't want that.
