in todays session we walked around trying to record lots of differ sounds which we could later use for a soundscape project. I found this really interesting as it required us to think a little more outside the box to obtain some really cool sounds. For example we recorded the toilets flushing, elevator noises and Printers. I also felt that it was refreshing to be outside of the classroom and learning in a more interactive environment. next week we will be processing these sounds in a DAW(Logic Pro X) and manipulating the sounds further until we can bring out some nice and unique characteristics which would compliment the vibe and atmosphere of the piece

The Sunken Hum Broadcast 30 - Royal Deluxe Clanking - 30 January 2013

  I bought my Royal Deluxe typewriter for about 3 dollars in New Orleans way back sometime ago. When I was bringing it over to Ireland on the plane, the woman at the security gates checkpoint asked me if it was my laptop. She neither seemed the sort to have a funny bone nor a sharp wit so I think she may have been serious....hmmmm...... I've been using typewritten words for a zine I'm working on. This is the sound of me typing away. This is the 30th broadcast of The Sunken Hum, my sound diary for 2013.
