Bc bc okay SO Steve's obviously the artist, but Bucky's truly the writer between them, and that goes beyond Bucky naturally being able to formulate professional and creative sounding writing pieces a little more naturally than Steve. And that's not to say Steve can't sound professional and creative and absolutely impactful-- I mean, look at his speeches. It's just that when it comes to putting pen to paper?? It's hard.
And part of that I take from Steve's rocky education path when he was younger. Between constant sickness and a level of poverty that Bucky's family didn't quite reach, I imagine Steve kinda was in and out of school a lot, so some basics of writing and grammar were sort of lost in translation. Which is more than okay! It doesn't say anything about his actual intelligence level, he just had a weird schooling experience. Anyway, because of that, writing for him is just a bit of a barrier, because he feels like he's missing some basics and he can't quite get the sentences to flow correctly or the punctuation to line up and it's understandably frustrating, which makes it even harder to find motivation.
So of course, there he is, in front of his computer. Typing things. Erasing them. Running his hands through his hair and groaning and sidetracking to youtube to watch cat compilations, or wikipedia to fall down a rabbit hole about fish or something (he can now tell you the origin of betta fish, by the way) until he finally gives up and dramatically slinks to Bucky in the kitchen with his laptop.
Bucky, of course, knows he struggles with this, but he also knows when to push Steve a little and this is definitely one of those times.
So he's like, "I ain't gonna write it for you, pal, but talk to me. Get out what's in your head, and then we can work on putting that on paper." and he encourages Steve to just get down his thoughts, then sits with him and helps him organize it and get it into paragraphs and check for grammar and punctuation and it takes maybe five hours and lots of frustrated Stevie and patient Bucky eating sun chips while looking over his shoulder, but they get it done! And when it's published, Bucky gives Steve a little kiss on the cheek and a soft, "I'm real proud of you, sweetheart."
And Steve gives a proud little smile and he's like, "Thanks:D"
