Wickedly Ever After (A Fairy Tale Romp, #1) by R. Lee Fryar

I loved Alistair and Amber, and I would check out further books in the series.

After I read the synopsis, I was sold, and when I started this, I really did enjoy it but as I read on I just kind of grew bored - I could never see the chemistry between Ida and Hector and besides the dragons, I found this was more disappointing and anti climactic than the purely fun read I was hoping for.

A Lady’s Guide to London (The Lucky Ladies of London, #2) by Faye Delacour 

Pub date - 4/15/25

In the second title of the historical romance series, the plot is focused on Della, who co-owns a ladies only gaming hell with Jane (the MFC of the first book The Lady He Lost). 

Well written, with enjoyable characters, I enjoyed this - with some issues. 

*calling this an enemies to lovers story is stretching it 

*the end - I wanted more of a resolution 

All in all, this one didn’t work for me as well as the first title, but I will continue to read more of this series and more by the author.

Charming Devil (Gilded Monsters, #2) by Rebecca F. Kenney

I love classics (and I really do love Oscar Wilde), but I also love retelling, continuations, and ‘fan fiction’ so when I saw this ad read the synopsis I was immediately interested. 

Despite my preference for preferring ‘continuations’ in a similar writing style, Charming Devil pulled me right in. 

Clever and with a very cute cat (Screwtape - is this a nod to CS Lewis’s titular character in The Screwtape Letters?), I found Charming Devil to be a fun and enjoyable read. 

This was my first time reading Ms Kenney’s work; I will absolutely read more.

Home Is Where Your Bark Is by Debbie Burns

I wasn’t able to connect with this story at first and it took me a bit to get into the flow. 

In spite of this initial response, I found this heartwarming and sweet. I really adored Seven, and appreciated the more realistic aspects of adopting a rescue dog.

I adored this story from start to finish - the characters (main and secondary), the humor, and I finished it the day I began it. It was a very enjoyable start to a new series, and a terrific first book! I am absolutely looking forward to reading what Ms Delacour writes next!

Tell me about some of the unsung heroes of books that you have read lately. Those books that you feel people just haven't heard enough about or that you think are great but you don't see people talking about that much. For me, one such book is Yes, and I Love You by @roniloren. This was an unexpectedly excellent read. I mean... I expected to enjoy it, but it definitely reached me on a deeper level than I ever thought would happen. I adored the theater/improv side of the story.
