I grew up with the language of “Thats demonic” for any and everything that wasn’t expressly spelled out in the #Bible and simultaneously having deep Southern Black daily customs that were very #SouthernBlack and #African. Like having to be the one to dispose of my hair from the comb or the brush because reasons 👀 it the specific ritual that followed having your foot swept by a broom 👀 it the inability to have any appliance turned on when it was storming because #Oya said, I mean Grandma said be still God is doing His business - because reasons 👀. When I started my academic career I began writing about this and coined it the Christian Demonic Filter™️ to catchall the rituals we participated in that made us uncomfortable that we weren’t able to acknowledge was really antiblackness deeply disguised as #Christian Supremacy. 🥴😬👩🏾💻👀 In this tweet I share every year since the first time @jadetperry my favorite #Churchy #Mystic posted it...
