One of the things that is so inspiring about the life and lyrics of #NipseyHussle is that he was constantly affirming believing in something deeper and higher than you. This particular lyric is ultimately him saying, "This journey isn't a dream... this is real. To the point that I'm willing to work without a salary (for now) because I know that it's going to pay off in the end for me. I know it!" . . . That makes me think of the scripture that says, "Speak those things that are not as though they were." - Romans 4:17 <- This means, "Talk about your dreams as if they are currently here. Not like they're just pie in the sky... but like they are NOW. And THEN get out there and walk in the direction of those dreams to the point that even when your salary (the proof) doesn't line up with what you're saying you'll still pursue." . . . I remember when a beloved friend, Jaha Zainabu, jokingly told me that I shld put every single one of my titles, including “Candlestick maker” (I’ve never made a candle 😂 yet) on my business cards. She was like, “Let folk know you do a million things well.” In the season we were having this conversation Jaha had a sandwich making business (those sandwiches were bomb - I bought most of them 😂) and she was (still is) an acclaimed poet and story teller.
