can we hear more about kausat being jewish? 👀
Oh, that’s more of a question to direct at @santostrife, since he’s the one that writes Kausat!
Short answer from the top of my head, though, since I feel bad leaving you with no information: If I’m recalling correctly, it’s a pretty personal subject for him, but it does inform quite a bit of his character. You’re not likely to get a speech from Kausat on what his faith means to him. He’s not there to function as a PSA about Judaism or anything, he’s just vibing.
I believe him being Jewish does tie into his whole deal with houses, though. That’s drawn from House of Leaves, but from what I’ve seen a lot of people tend to leave (lol) that theming out if they reference it in any way, despite it being a pretty prominent aspect of the work. Could just be me seeing nothing but the wrong material, though. I’ll leave (lol^2) Santos to expand on that further if he wants to.
Take this all with a pinch of salt. Again, Kausat’s not my character, and I’m not fully informed on the subject. I don’t know everything, by any means! But what I do know is that Santos has poured a good deal of research into the matter- much more than I have! Smart guy.
Thank you for inquiring! Have a nice day.
Does Ajax prefer his dinosaurs feathered or scaled
Sorry to say, probably scaled. He doesn’t really think about the nuance of feathered dinosaurs, he just presumes the comical extreme and he’s like “theres no fuckin way”, one of those guys who’s like “what, you mean like a big chicken??” and kinda just dismisses the concept immediately. Ajax has this thing where he presumes he’s right most of the time. It's hard to change his mind on some things because if he can tell you're trying to change his mind he will fight you every step of the way.
He also doesn’t believe that known celebrity and god Jake English is real. So I think you can understand that he’s not always right.
I enjoyed hearing about your troll imprinting headcanons. I was wondering how that would work with the maryam's since their guardian has wings and multiple legs, and in general is very bug like(apologies if this dosen't make sense).
Hey, I’m glad you like them! Means a lot!!
My general idea was that trolls have an evolutionary sense of what a troll is supposed to look like post-pupation, kind of like regular bugs. They “know” how many legs they’re supposed to have, how many eyes they’re supposed to have, the fact that their elytra is supposed to be sealed, etc., in the same way a developing human fetus “knows” how it’s supposed to form.
Minor to extreme deviations from that formula are mutations. Mutations can form either at fetal stages or pupal stages.
Now, to more directly answer your question…
All trolls have wings- unless they have some kind of mutation/disability that prevented their formation/development- they’re just tucked away in their back. Again, sealed elytra. The fact that Rufioh/The Summoner had access to his wings from the get-go is a mutation. I can see a troll developing pronounced, unsealed wings through non-traumatic means in either fetal or pupal stages.
Development of extra limbs is seen as a severe mutation- and it’s a relatively rare one, too. Especially if it holds post-pupation. Extra grub limbs are seen as less of an issue than extra limbs as a developed, pupated troll, as the limbs of grubs already exceed the number of limbs on a troll. Oftentimes, they’re simply expected to merge into the body.
In cases where Guardians have more arthropodic traits- many limbs, wings, et cetera- the developing mind of the grub will latch onto what it feels is the best traits to guarantee survival. This often equates to which defense/offense/escape/luring mechanisms are used around them the most. For many young trolls, this includes, but is not limited to, things such as venom, poison, claws, mimicry, paw pads, urticating hair, and even bioluminescence.
The mind of a pre-pupation troll is quite malleable, and though they have an evolutionary sense of how post-pupation trolls are supposed to look- as I mentioned previously- the minor details are a bit hazy. These details tend to be filled in by the image of their Lusus. Trolls with vertical/horizontal slit pupils, nictitating membranes, tetrachromacy, biofluorescent patterns, fins, and even somewhat of a muzzle are a decently common sight- though the latter is arguably a mutation.
Trolls with an arthropodic Lusus tend to very much so look the part. The clear sectioning of the face will give off more of the impression of a carapace than it will the impression of anything comparable to human skin. Some trolls find themselves with straight up mandibles, or even chelicerae.
Horse moment.
Callout post for the Zuko!Rufioh believers: y’all think he’s WAAAAY cooler then he is, however I respect the hustle

what's sov!cronus like? Also as someone who might be considered a fan of cronus, I feel like the big difference between a "good" cronus fan and a "bad" one is wether they acknowledge how awful he is. cronus sucks. objectively. and if you don't think he sucks then you're not a cronus fan, you just really like your oc that you stuck in cronus's body. cronus is a supervillain in the body of an incel and I love to hate him.
Yeah, totally get that. People who hate Cronus but are ultimately invested in his real actual canon character are welcome here. Hence why in a recent post, I did mention that you can like Cronus, you just have to acknowledge the fact that he’s awful and not, as you said, make an OC and put them in Cronus’s skin, for whatever reason. Apologists get blocked on sight. “Simps” also get blocked on sight. I’ve had far too many negative experiences with Cronus Enjoyers to not have severe, severe trust issues with regards to his character.
Hating Cronus is the correct response to his character. That was entirely the intention of his character. You are supposed to hate him, and Hussie honestly did a very good job of making a character who is genuinely evil without making it offensive. I’ve noticed a lot of writers will default onto stereotypical minority traits to show how much of a villain a character is- but Cronus is the opposite of this. He’s as hateable as he is because he does nothing but punch down and act like the victim of an oppressive system he’s actively upholding and benefitting from, and wants said system to be even more oppressive.
I suppose I could also be considered somewhat of an “anti-fan” of his character- I’m incredibly passionate about the idea of portraying him accurately, and I’m actually by choice one of the writers for his character in Sovereignstuck. I’m very much so passionate about Cronus’s character. It just so happens that that passion goes hand in hand with unending rage. Lol.
That said, Sov!Cronus is decently similar to canon Cronus. He’s still a vile person. In some ways, he’s even worse, but not in a way that breaks character. The framework for his behavior canonically started when he was incredibly young, and the reason why he’s as terrible as he is is because he had his hopes of being a prophetic Hero of Hope shattered. He’s jaded, bitter, and violently entitled, and he’s making it everyone else’s problem.
A key difference is that, in contrast to Cronus canonically having a millennia to “get over” the emotional injury of not being a prophetic hero, he’s only had one year to do so in Sovereignstuck. Which means he isn’t over it at all. It’s an incredibly fresh wound, and he’s still actively very upset about it. The fact that one of our key players is a Rogue of Hope- who is the prophetic Hero of Hope- does not at all bode well for his mental state. His rudimentary understanding of what classpects actually mean is not helping.
On top of that, he’s much more afraid of getting caught and revealed as the person he is, because getting suddenly hit with that information will absolutely lead to total rejection, which is his worst fear. There’s nothing he hates more than rejection. Due to this, he tends to put up more of a façade around the new guys. He’s not an idiot in that regard- he knows you have to start small and work your way up.
A big reason why he was able to get so far in the first place was because his biggest target, Mituna, is a Cassandra parallel- in which Cronus is the Apollo of that equation, as well as Ajax the Lesser. If you know, you know. The Cassandra effect has not had any time to set into the Player session- and actually won’t really set in at all. It’s very frustrating for him.
Also, he’s got shades now. He thinks they make him look cool. +2 Confidence Boost. They don’t actually look cool. He looks like a dweeb. He also wears clothes that are too big for him, to pretend that he’s larger than he actually is. It’s a sore subject. He’s in denial.
