Jade Pease - Chapter 1

So, we have a Gen 1 sim for the Legacy, Jade, and her hostage future spouse, Skip Broke, so it seems like a good time to go over the goals that we are failing to meet for this generation.

I'm using @sojutrait's legacy challenge but we have already failed at least one of the goals for this gen (spoilers!) soooo... it's gonna be that kind of legacy play through.

Gen 1 - Homesteading Era You're on your own now! With a plot and an affinity for self sufficiency, you're ready to live off the land. Rules > Start with YA sim on a plot of land, you have 20K > You and your spouse have to stay unemployed - all money must come from gardening fishing and your livestock. > Mut have at least one cow or llama, one horse, one goat or sheep, and one chicken. > No woohoo till marriage > Have as many children as possible. > Max out fishing and gardening skills > Have at least one child in Scouts >Complete any Nature Aspiration.

Guess which one we've already messed up. I looked away for TWO MINUTES while trying to figure out what was wrong with the cow.

Can't leave these two alone for FIVE MINUTES.

Anyway, we did cheat in a bit of money to clutter up the house and pay for a hot springs BUT, look, it's so pretty!

Located in Henford-on-Bagely, Jade Pease is the proud owner of a single-wide, a run down cow shed, a small green house and a lot of land.

Cozy, cluttered and entirely theirs, it was time for Jade and Skip to settle in and work on building up the farm into something they were proud of.

So they got a cow...

Jade (and her watcher) promptly discovered that you can slip in the messes cows make.

The cow immediately announced that it only had a few more days to live. So, money well spent there.

At least there were chickens!

This fight did not end the way I thought it would.

The chickens get to live another day, thanks to Cluckers. Cluckers is the farm's MVP.

After planting some more sad plants, the Royal Envoy from the event showed up once again.

.... with a suitcase?

Jade: I guess we technically do have a spare room.

Cow: Grim can't come for me soon enough.

The Envoy was a terrible house guest.

And her presence and weird demands were really not the best for Jade and the Jealous trait she picked up as a souvenir from their romantic getaway adventure.

Jade: I need you to get out of the bathroom. Envoy: I need you to learn to play the piano and perform for me at a random bar open mic night.

Unfortunately for everyone at the bar, the Envoy vastly overestimated the duo's capacity to feel embarrassment or shame about their single level of skills.

Skip: *Aggressively playing chopsticks* Jade: Do-Re-Me-Fa... uh... Fa... So?

Townies chucked spare simoleons into the pot while muttering in simlish what the watcher can only assume was 'please stop', before they all went to the opposite end of the room to hide from the music.

And then they left for home with Confident Moodlets somehow.

Oh, and Skip decided that he has musical aspirations now.

The little chapel that really shouldn't! Jade and Skip were off to get married before Indigo turns into a toddler in the sort of style that suits a couple that met on reality tv and had a baby in the first week of their relationship.

Everyone is invited! Well, Raj wasn't invited for reasons. Actually, neither was anyone else from their little romantic tv-show meet-cute which was probably for the best.

Like all good Vegas Oasis Springs weddings, Jade and Skip started this shindig at one in the morning.

Like the reasonable sims they are. Well, best to get it done before anything else goes wrong. Everyone's still smarting from that whole bad-luck incident with Indigo's birth.

Dustin, Skip's brother was invited, as was Jade's only real friend, Dustin's ex-wife Brandi.

Awkward.

Aw, look, Dustin regrets the life choices his Watcher made him make.

Love that for him.

Enjoy the sim child-support mod in your unfurnished Del Sol apartment, Dustin!

Anyway, there were three options for the wedding. The 'Budget Bridgerton':

And the 'No Money, Only Love':

Unfortunately, as much as Jade loved the faux-garden aesthetic, they started the party in the middle of the night with dubious weather conditions so indoor celebration it was!

All they had to do was pay the deco-sim clerk and the wedding was on! As is usually the case with My Wedding Stories, everyone sort of trickled in and out while sims were made to amble up and down the aisle at the Watcher's whim for pictures.

No wedding is complete without random townies getting it on in the hallway. At one point Skip wandered out of the room while Jade was trying to walk up the aisle but eventually they both made it to the place to exchange vows.

And thanks to more deco sims, the wedding didn't look too empty.

Indigo was too little to participate so she was lugged around in a backpack until she fell asleep from exhaustion.

Aw, they WERE pretty cute though.

Not only did they get married, but they managed to have three actual sims observe it! Gold medal, here we come!

This sums up a lot of the relationship dynamic, honestly. Sidenote: this was about the time I realized that I had Skip and his dad have the exact same hair so he gets a small makeover shortly after the wedding.

They did manage to cut the cake before the wedding toast bugged out the whole party but honestly, I consider that a rousing success with the wedding stories nonsense.

Partied till dawn and the royal Ondarians starting showing up. All the hallmarks of an excellent party.

It's childhood semi-montage time! Jade's watcher has been deep in the trenches of infant hell but there are some cute pictures to share. When last we left the disaster family, it was just Jade, Skip and little Indigo.

Though since Skip and Jade can't keep their hands off each other, regardless of who may be watching, that was about to change.

The farm went completely to shit at this point, the third cow died and the Watcher decided we were going to pause livestock after the chickens all died out because Grim was a constant visitor.

To the point that Jade got jealous over him and Skip developed an obnoxious fear of death to replace his angst over his bastard status, which resolved when I gave him a mom.

There was also a brief visit from a would be thief to steal... honestly, it would probably have been the fridge. Most of the Pease estate is not very valuable.

Fortunately, that whacking at the sword training dummy came in pretty handy actually. Honestly, Skip really started to show himself as the MVP here while Jade was pregnant with the second member of Gen 2 as she mostly slept, ate, and occasionally tried to keep the plants and remaining chickens alive.

You never know who will show up at basement-court. Looks like Dustin's life is still a dumpster-fire though. You love to see it.

Time for a trash-nap!

Brandi showed up to briefly allow Dustin to see the daughter he abandoned and then promptly went into labor herself with the twins she'd conceived with Crispin Black.

Which was apparently contagious because Jade also went into labor despite it being Indigo's birthday.

Rude, Jade. This totally isn't going to give Indigo a complex later on in life.

So the party I planned for first birthday will have to wait. But Indigo still got a cake and hit her terrible twos, gaining the aggressive trait! Fun!

She's a cutie! Even if she did promptly bite the first stranger to walk into the house; the mid wife who showed up to deliver the new baby.

After Indigo's harrowing birth, Jade was determined to have the home water-birth that she was promised.

Surrounded by nature and the smell of chicken shit and dying plants, the Pease family welcomed a baby boy to be the official Gen 2 Spare.

A boy they promptly punished by leaning hard into the color naming conventions of the legacy and named him Azure.

Azure Pease. It sounds like a WTD

At least he's a cutie!

And he even survived meeting his older sister for the first time, without any teeth-marks to show for it.

So an eventful day; a birthday, a birth, some off screen births of cousins. But at least everyone was settling in for a quiet evening.

We are quickly heading into childhood montage territory for Gen 2; who is already stealing my heart.

Skip is a really good dad (breaking the generational trauma for his branch of the Broke family, apparently!) And Indigo is really enjoying her brief time as only child.

Since Skip and Jade don't have real jobs, they have plenty of time to teach the Gen 2 heir important infant skills.

Though that time is quickly coming to an end. Jade has some real feels about a second pregnancy after Indigo's dramatic entry into the world, so we're doing ALL the healthy pregnancy activities. Even if they take a day and a half to get through.

Since we're already a little bit askew from the original goals of this gen of the legacy, we have decided to interpret inheritance and land ownership as part of 'making money from the land'.

(And it allows me to stress test some of the regency/nobility mods before jumping back to 1890 where it matters).

So its time to cosplay as nobility. Jade is now the proud owner of 'Pease Estates' through the regency mod and she and Skip have both joined the noble 'career'. So, in true 'simstagram farmer' fashion, they're playing at farming while relying on inheritance Simoleans.

And since they only know Skip's family, that's who gets to come to their pretend ball. Trigger, Skip's dad, and his mom spent a lot of time dancing despite being estranged and separated. Hm.

Though we did discover a bit more of what's been going on with Brandi. She's pregnant with their next niece or nephew and showed up to the party in some random formal wear.

Brandi deserves better.

But no time to focus on the side characters in this episode, there's a new Pease on the way!

And there's Basement-Court to be held!

After a successful wedding event, we return to the ramshackle farm and popups to announce just how unhappy the chickens are with the state of their prison.

While they are remarkably bad at farming and ranching - the two skills this step of the legacy challenge revolves around, Jade and Skip are actually really devoted parents.

Apparently, Dustin is having all the feels after seeing his ex at the wedding so he begs to come crash at the farm for 'a few days'.

Sure, Dustin. We can always use more pictures of your man-pain in the background.

Fortunately, Indigo's toddler room is empty while she's in the nursery so the inflatable guest mattress makes an appearance. Dustin is family, so we'll let him sleep in the house instead of the barn, but he still gets the garbage mattress.

The allure of stomping in trash piles during a thunderstorm was too much temptation and I thought we were going to see Dustin die from electrocution but he survived and ran inside to scream at Skip.

They kept startling each other with panicked screaming. House guests are the worst.

Despite the chaos of her uncle, Indigo zipped through her infant milestones. She's such a good baby. She had the calm trait and all of her quirks were charming; she had a quirk that meant she always woke up happy, that she was a 'happy spitter' and a feeding tinkler. Just easy as far as infants go all around.

Easy enough that Skip and Jade actually got some private time even with a baby and a house guest.

(I don't know why Dustin is in his swim trunks)

Aw, this announcement went much better than the last one. Skip has fully embraced his patriarch position in his growing family. Also, check out that new hair style. So much better!

Consequences of My Actions? I don't know her.

After a brief, frenetic break to redo all the townies so they're all attractive enough to be featured characters, we're back to Jade, Skip and their little farm.

Jade and Skip continue to repeatedly break the no-woo-hoo until marriage when given any leeway. At least they're getting along well? We're still trying for that wholesome dynamic so off they go to the pub to have a sweet date night.

Skip: So, apparently, I have family now! When the Watcher was remaking townies, my family tree got a major expansion. My dad, Trigger, is living with the Addams commune now - you know that dating show place we met? Jade: The one with all the fire, where you hooked up with Raj? Skip: That's a different save, baby, it's like it never happened. Jade: *suspicious Jealousy trait engaged* Skip: I ALSO HAVE A BROTHER; Dustin from Get Famous, and he has a whole family of his own that he's left to start a career in Del Sol Valley. Jade: Aw, side characters! It's like we're a real legacy story, almost. Skip: Some day, babe. Some day.

After some getting to know you, wholesome small talk, Jade and Skip moved on to things they do best; making other townies super uncomfortable!

Townie that escaped the makeover brush is not so sure about the PDA. Wholesome, you guys. WHOLESOME RELATIONSHIP DYNAMIC.

*sigh*

Nothing says wholesome like the post woo-hoo walk of shame to the bar bathroom on bear night.
