(trying to justify my characters making current pop culture references and using outdated technology in the year 2300 in my story) so basically there WAS a time in the history of their galaxy that WAS all super digitalized futuristic scifi bs, but because wealthy ceos only wanted money, the technology became progressively less usable and the digital archives got randomly deleted because of this, in something they called "the 2100 blackout" where everything stopped working.
so thats why its the year 2300 and they still use physical books, analog stuff, handwritten letters, dvds, cds, and all that. after the blackout people realized "HEY maybe digital everything isnt the way to go"
