It suddenly struck me that the reason the Romulan symbol is a bird of prey is because they’re space Romans, and that’s their Aquila.
How did I never see it before?

The uniforms in my sci-fi needed a re-design. Here are new versions of a Venusian Praetorian and Centurion in parade-dress. The Praetorian, on the left, is named Belladante Calypso, and the Centurion, on the right, is named Orpheus Boniduke. The art in the Solaranthopicon is going to be black and white so I don't necessarily need to colour the designs, but I may colour these just so the audience can see how the comic would look if I had time to colour it in. The Solaranthropicon has been pushed way back and won't be completed for years after my Ww1 fiction is complete. So far there's a lot of world building and not much of a plot. Premise so far: In an alternate time line where the Roman empire never fell, and instead colonised Venus and Mars, the people living on the two planets split into their own empires and war bitterly with each other. A Martian girl finds herself stranded on Venus during some of the worst of the fighting, and sees the evil her own government are doing, concludes that although the Venusians do things very differently from Martians, they are entitled to their own culture and beliefs, and should be left alone. She struggles to bring about peace, ultimately Venus is destroyed and the human race is almost entirely wiped out. Finally, a note about these two characters: Orpheus is a famous artist on Venus, with very good connections in the administration. Belladante is his favorite model/muse, rumored to be the Ceasar's illegitimate son, and potentially a secret heir to the Venusian throne. The hitch, is that if the Ceasar is killed, Belladante will have to commit suicide, as he will have failed in his duties.

Had some fun with helmet and pauldron accessories after seeing some new and fantastic Deviantart content from Hammk.
This is interesting in so many different ways.
A conversation about Space Romans and actual Romans
Me: I started writing a story about Space Romans
*cue me giggling like a giddy five year old on a sugar high*
My Mom: …well, if they could have, they would have
We then had a conversation about the succession of emperors and who did what. She knows mostly about Augustus and that Hadrian built a wall (and my guess of Constantine, because most people know about Constantine, like they do Marcus Aurelius)
