Aizawa deals with a lot, but as long as we have something to say about it, he will always have a home to come back to.”

Gravity is a song that deals with a feeling of disconnect from the world around you and a general feeling that you don’t quite fit where you are now. As I said before, Aizawa deals with a lot, but he strong (both inside and out) and has the drive to keep going (and help hands when he doesn’t). He has a place where he fits, and that ‘place’ is happy to have him.”

Lone Digger meshes casual and pushy so well that the song’s chanting feels more like encouragement than coercion. Midnight never makes you feel entirely out of control, but you’re never in control either. If you’re not careful you can quickly find yourself in over your head with a woman who is ready and willing to put you through the wringer. You better hope she likes you if that’s the case. If not, this lovely lady’s gonna enjoy watching you squirm.”

((King is a song about wresting control of your own life and being king of yourself. Thirteen has spent his entire life living in fear of his quirk. Of himself. The knowledge that one little slip up can kill hundreds, if not thousands, weighs on his mind everyday and the anxiety that causes often makes him physically ill, and he need medication to get through the worst of it. He hates himself, not just for what he could do, but for what he has done. His quirk has killed someone before. Years of training has honed his control to a point, but the fear is probably never going away, and as a result he’s avoided making lasting relationships in the past. Ever since he became a hero and teacher, however, he has reached a better place, as he feels confident that his fellow heroes would be able to intervene if he ever lost control. Slowly, but surely, he is becoming the king of his own life, and he loves his coworkers dearly for helping him get there.))

((Socially, Thirteen is a bit of a wreck. His ever present fears and anxieties make it difficult for Thirteen to initiate relationships of any kind, and part of him feels that he would only be inviting disaster if he tried. That does mean, however, that the strong relationships he does make are unspeakably precious to him. Despite that, he feels a little disconnected from the people he cares about due to his suit. Very few people know what he looks like and just as few people actually know his name, so Thirteen often wonders if he’s more emotionally invested in his relationships than his friends are. He’s terribly afraid of being abandoned. After all, how do you care for someone who’s face you’ve never even seen? Regardless though, Thirteen’s loyalty to his loved ones is endless, and I’m with You is a symbol of that loyalty despite his feeling of disconnection from others. He’d be one of those most devastated by one of his friends turning out to be the traitor.))

Shouta still couldn’t wrap his mind around it. Even as Thirteen tried to explain to him that it was way more than ‘just a ring’. He understood, after all. He knew it was a big step. Something that would change his life forever ... when it was legal. ❝ Hiz-- Mic’s ring is the one that really matters. ❞ He mumbled, as soon as Thirteen’d finished his analogy. 

He was shocked, even more, by Thirteen revealing his feelings on the situation. Moving his hand to wave it in front of his face, as if to wave off the comment. Thirteen could be happy all he wanted. He knew his co-workers were excited for them. He’d heard about the bet after all. The bet that ... really got under his skin. He didn’t know why they felt the need to put money down on his private life. On his relationship with Hizashi. It didn’t seem ... rational. That’s what the media did with the top heroes that they thought would be good together. The gossip on pro-heroes ran deep, after all. Why did he have to face it in his own work place? 

❝ Thirteen ... ❞ He started, turning to face the other. Only to be caught off by his co-worker’s apology. 

Honestly, he wasn’t angry. He had lost his head a little bit when he’d first heard the news ... but now that he’d had time to think about it ... he wasn’t angry. He felt a little uncomfortable, as he did every time someone pried to much into his personal life but ... it would pass. These were his ... friends ... after all. His co-workers. His fellow heroes. He couldn’t be mad because he knew their hearts were in the right place. ❝ Don’t apologize. ❞

Really, his comfort didn’t matter in the long run. He’d get over it. What mattered was that Hizashi was happy and if he wasn’t bothered by the bet, what right did Aizawa have to make a scene about it? 

❝ You guys were just having fun. I understand. It’s fine. ❞

It took everything in him not to straight up deck whoever it was clinging to his stomach right that moment. Coming up behind him and pulling him into a hug as he tried to pour himself coffee in the teacher’s lounge. Shortly after gripping his mug for dear life to try and keep his body from reacting, he realized it was Thirteen who was hugging him. And that he was ... squealing. 

It took Aizawa a moment, trying desperately to get his sleepy brain to understand what was going on. Oh. Yeah. 

He’d put his ring on that morning. 

The one that usually rested on a chain around his neck when he wasn’t on patrol. But, with the students merely taking a test that day, he’d just put it on his hand so he didn’t lose it. Or so Yoshi didn’t get a hold of it and start playing with it. 

But that was why Thirteen was squealing. He was happy for the long term couple. And ... Aizawa wasn’t really sure how he was supposed to feel about that. He knew that it was normal. Friends could be happy for ... friends. But he still didn’t really understand why they cared. It was his life, his private life. His relationship with his boyfriend, now turned fiancé was something they’d kept a secret because Shouta didn’t really understand why people needed to know. The only one who had known was Midnight and that’s because she had forced it out of them back in high school. 

But, now? With the small pro-hero clinging to him, arms wrapped tight around his waist ... he wasn’t sure what to say. What to think. 

❝ Is it ... really that exciting? ❞ He finally asked, when his body relaxed. He wasn’t used to being snuck up on. It was hard to try and make his body not react. ❝ It’s ... just a ring, you know. ❞ But, he wasn’t stupid. Even Aizawa knew that this was more than just a ring. It was a personified promise that his co-workers were proud of him for making a reality. Which would be sweet, if Shouta could get past the feeling of having his privacy be invaded.
