evil or not, shibe is still digging a hole in this man's backyard. paws furiously dig deeper and deeper, until nothing but a curled tail sticks out.
It had taken such a long moment for the sound of digging and the occasional faint, determined grunt to register as anything other his imagination, that, for the most part, Leonard had only stared blindly and silently ahead in response to the spectacle at his feet. Just his imagination... That was what Leonard had passed it off as being at first, but as soon as the sound of dirt hitting his shoe met his ears...
The hermit’s head turned in confusion.
“....?”
Some animal.... Digging a hole? He was sure of it, now- But... What? What could it have been? To Leonard’s ears, it had sounded far too large to be a common rabbit... But he couldn’t believe for a second that something like a badger or fox would just have the gall to walk up to him like that, either.
Curiously he knelt down beside the hole, one arm draped over his knee and the other wavering in a slight hesitance in it’s reach towards the sound. Whatever this creature was, he certainly hope it didn’t bite...
... No. He had grabbed onto something soft. Fluffy... Curled...? Leonard struggled to think of what kind of animal it was that had both a curled tail and dug holes, but empty space was all that filled his mind. At least it wasn’t any badger... Shifting so that he was on his knees, now, Leonard sat in stumped silence for only a while longer before taking complete action.
With both hands the animal was quickly seized and lifted from under it’s front arms, being lifted carefully from the hole and placed on it’s back atop the hermit’s lap. For most four-legged creatures, it seemed to take a moment or so of difficulty to get back to standing back up proper when placed on their back, so if he could be allowed enough time to just feel it’s face...
“Ah...!”
A small, worried cry escaped him as he hurried to put this animal back properly on the ground. It wasn’t game at all, rather... Some sort of dog...? It seemed only a bit larger than a big cat, and hardly aggressive to start... Could this dog have been... Someone’s pet?In Midgard of all places...
With a deep breath, he couldn’t help but give the poor - And likely frightened - creature a reassuring little scratch on the head with his gloved hands, smoothing back the fur and giving a gentle, guiding little push.
“I cannot begin to imagine what it is that may bring you to this place... But you must be careful. Even in a place as this, danger is eminent. Be safe.”
Should he have found it some food...? Now that he began to think about it, Leonard was starting to doubt this poor creature even had a family to go back to...
....
...Perhaps....
If this was some sign for him...
