jess had been aware there was going to be a new employee starting at the talon. lana had needed extra help, and wanted to start selling pastries along with the drinks. she'd failed to mention the man she hired was... well. he looked like he was off some kind of magazine cover, nowhere near the types they usually saw here in smallville. needless to say, jess had a little... accident upon seeing him walk in. so now she was on her knees behind the counter cleaning up her mess.

the past few years were a blur, eighteen and everything in between just flashes of landscape in his memory. he never dreamed up himself in the middle of some run of the mill small town in the united states, but finding his craft in the kitchen had been equally surprising. plucked from the streets at fourteen uprooted his path fairly quickly, but he hadn't stopped sprinting forward long enough to truly look back. now, twenty-one and half a dozen countries behind him, he was finally settling into a groove. the talon was a welcome change of pace, quiet and quaint in all the ways a kitchen wasn't. chasing chaos could only take you so far, the pressure building before something breaks. the sound of commotion and clattering silverware pulled him from his conversation with one of the customers, nodding a quick apology before ducking behind the counter.

"you alright?" he asked quietly, voice lowered not to travel past her ears. luca knelt down to help collect the debris, offering her a sympathetic look.
