Thank you for the prompt! I went with #47. My turn ons? Well I don’t know, maybe some fucking common sense. But there will probably be a bonus 81 later! And hey, I actually kept this one a drabble.
Shepardraced as fast as her legs could carry her but six months in lockup, even with adaily exercise routine, left her soft. The woman had caught them off guard andwas—especially for a doctor—surprisingly fast. They raced throughthe Mars facility, ducking around beams and sliding over pipes, but theCerberus agent managed to stay a few steps ahead of her.
Shecrested the top of a ladder onto one of the many rooftops, diving out of theway just as Eva Coréturned and fired her pistol. Shepard crouched behind cover, popping up tosqueeze off a few rounds of her own. Either the woman was ungodly lucky orShepard’s aim had gone rusty. Fuckthe Alliance. Keepher under lock and key for half a year and then thrust her in the middle of awar expecting her to work miracles. Fuck them all.
Unsympatheticto Shepard’sdisadvantage, Dr. Coré raced the final few steps across the rooftop and jumpedinto a waiting Cerberus shuttle.
“Damn it! She’s getting away!”
Legspumping with every ounce of effort she had, Shepard sped toward the open door, but the shuttle rose too high in the air before she could reach it. Dr. Coré’s smug smile stared down atShepard as the door slid closed. Kaidan and Liara slid to a stop behind her,but not even their combined biotics could bridge the lead the shuttle hadgained.
Outof nowhere, the Kodiak swooped down, slamming into the Cerberus shuttle at fullspeed. Careening wildly from the force of the impact, it veered straight towardthe roof as the Cerberus pilot lost control. Shepard, Kaidan, and Liara alldove out of the way of the large vehicle, covering their heads as smallerpieces of debris rained over them. An unhappy grinding followed as Vega set theKodiak down in the only semi-clear spot on the roof.
“Normandy’s en route. They’ll behere soon,” James said, wobbling slightly as he emerged from the Kodiak.
Shepardstalked over to him, jaw clenched in annoyance. “What the fuck was that?”
Shecould make out his shit eating grin from behind the clear plate of his visor. “What was what? That?” He jerked histhumb over his shoulder. “You mean me saving the day?”
Witha groan, her brows pinched together as she scowled at him. “We’ll talk about this later.”
“Aww, c’mon Lola. I was just tryingto help.” He nudged his shoulder into hers. “Besides, your turn ons are, and Iquote, ‘explosions and beating every record on Pinnacle Station’, end quote.”
“Shit, Vega,” Shepard snorted. “Don’tyou know a satire article when you see one?” No way would she admit she’d beenhonest in that stupid interview.
“Well, damn. Guess that didn’t do itfor you then.” A mischievous grin spread over his face. “So what are yourturn-ons, for future reference?”
Sherolled her eyes. “Myturn ons? Well I don’t know, maybe some fucking common sense. Can we go getthat data now?”
Aloud bang echoed, followed by the screech of metal scraping over the rooftop.Shepard rushed around the Kodiak as the sound of gunshots pierced the air, pulling her own gun from her holster as she ran. Ice froze in Shepard’s veins. Flesh melted in theexplosion, Eva Coré’s gynoid platform dangled Kaidan’s body in the air with onefirm grip on his helmet, holding him in front of her like a shield.
