Feel like doing a discussion of the crk story.. apologies for the weird pacing and more to rambling..
Spoilers under cut!
-This story COULD have been a lot more impactful if it didn't have the weird pacing and predictable endings really.. I mean, it's a cookie game really, it's gotta appeal more to an 'understandable' story. I do enjoy it, I just feel like Devsis could have tried more on a more interesting conclusion, rather than yes, the Hero died after doing something that kills the boss one-shot, but overall Lily's arc was good, but it's just the way she died was just a little.. uneventful, 'cause she just dies like, oh I'm dissipating while standing in front of y'all, bye gang. Like she accepts it, that was good, but I think if she dissipated DURING her fight with DE, it would have made PV's longing to tell her all the stuff he hadn't told still make sense, and the war itself would be a lot more interesting instead of 'everyone waits for the hero to arrive' ah. Like some of these characters, even if they're not the strongest, COULD have done something to weaken DE while waiting, which they did implement, but it was only like, one time? They died and get revived? Ok? Where's the emotional impact on that?
-White Lily’s arc is objectively pretty good in terms of character development and her death genuinely moved me. It’s just the weird pacing and timing that makes it not as impactful for some people bcs of how predictable it is. (Although my dumb ass was surprised at this)
-Altho it does make sense for Sugar Swan to be there, I really think she was an unnecessary add to the story; there’s no build up since ep 6, and like… idk.. she got only 5 mins of screentime? For a god that controls life, I’m glad that she got smacked at some point, bcs of flaws, but she just never got back up? And Black Sugar Swan? Really? She’s an entirely different character in CROB, and her story was very interesting, so why make them the same cookie? (Unless it’s my ass understanding of the story, but so far it’s like… that). It genuinely would have been better if she popped up at various plot points throughout the older stories and now, even just putting her as a side character that watches over us and asking how we’re doing is fine enough to make her a more impactful character in the story, along with character development
-The Beasts just… die? The powerful characters that faced against the Ancients just gets absorbed and like uh.. ONLY SMC survives? They’re not THAT weak to the point if their life force is drained, they just flop around like that. At least, to make their death more impactful, make them turn into the bug monsters for a new chapter or smth, as a last ditch attempt at their call for help. That would have been more interesting.
-Ending was very strange with the ‘SMC being the ultimate cookie’ shebang, and I feel like that arc is thrown under the bus and squished in weirdly, same goes for the COD parts, like where’s Butter Roll?
-COD GOT SHOVED ASIDE. This is supposed to be the arc where we understand more of their backstories and sympathies or hate them. You can’t tell me the Beasts gets more screen time of that than the cult of the war themselves! Or they could have at least FOUGHT MORE? They kinda just walk around aimlessly and tell DE info and that’s it.
-Literally where was Butter Roll when it was implied that Espresso and Butts have like some sort of affiliation with each other? He’s just. Not there??? Could have been a side villain arc to make us understand COD and Butts himself, and a development for Espresso?
-The Pomegranate gems were also kinda thrown away, like why does only Schwarz get the power up and not everyone else? Or like make it more relevant if ure gonna place it in the story? Where the heck is Bat-Cat too?
-I feel like leaving us on a questioning spree of what the ultimate cookie could be would have been a way better thing to end the story, and the next arc would be about that. It’s like a two sentence horror story; you leave it up to ur interpretation of what it could be, but have enough explanation to get a brief description of what it functions to be (?)
-ok got some info and SMC is alr planned to be that ultimate cookie, since like the beginning, but I kinda wished they mention it more as foreshadowing…
Yeah, just rambles, could get stuff wrong but I’m still learning… Not saying I HATE the story, ‘cause like I GENUINELY ENJOYED IT, it’s just that I’ve been thinking a lot about it, and all of that usually comes to make typing this and expressing what I really think lol. I’ve seen some of my mutuals’ rambles and I lwk wanna put this out here :3
