Headcanon: After flint returned back to his universe, he was surprised to see max there with him. He questioned why he was here, and max admitted he gave up his universe for him. Flint thought he was insane to give up his reality for him but he didn't argue, he instead accepted it. Though flint was still wanted, he had to find somewhere he could live safely and build a home and money. Max helped him get the money he needed and got a job in designing structures for buildings and even help making a more sustainable and eco friendly power source like he did in his universe.

Once the two of them were settled, they went to see penny. It wasn't easy though. Flint's ex wasn't exactly willing to just let him walk back into her life. It took time. He laid low for a bit near by, with max being the one to go out for him. After some time, she began to allow him to see her more. He even agreed to get them in a better home to give them a new start. Not too long after, he paid to get his daughter the needed treatment to make her healthy.

Later down the road penny would be allowed to spend the night over max and flints temporary home every now and then. They became close, and eventually, max became a new addition to the family.
