i find moritz stiefel to be an extremely compelling, beautiful, and complex character. all the facets of him being an abused repressed confused queer kid with an absolute freak of a best friend, who doesn’t get the support he needs at school and is actively bullied by his teachers and parents. he tries so hard and he’s so desperate to understand why the world is treating him so horribly along with newly burgeoning and scary sexual thoughts and feelings. he is truly the central figure of spring awakening to me, representing the repression and subsequent unfolding of self-discovery mixed with the shame and fear of their society, pushed into a demise by familial abuse and neglect. and he has so many people in his life who love him so much. and he pushes them away. god i love moritz
