Ho Launchies — Welcome to Battle School!
This is a blog dedicated to the Ender Series (and the Shadow Saga) and I will post my thoughts on the books, plot, characters, and my other opinions here.
First of all, I would like to post the chronological order of books here, since it is one of the most frequently asked questions in the Enderverse.
Chronological Order: (and recommended sequence)
1. Ender’s Game 2. Ender’s Shadow 3. Shadow of the Hegemon 4. Shadow Puppets 5. Shadow of the Giant 6. Ender in Exile 7. Shadows in Flight 8. Speaker for the Dead 9. Xenocide 10. Children of the Mind
Ender’s Game and Ender’s Shadow are very similar. Obviously because it is the same story from different perspectives. Besides these two, the rest of the books are very different. The series could really be divided into these three different categories:
Ender Series Ender’s Game Ender in Exile
Shadow Saga Ender’s Shadow Shadow of the Hegemon Shadow Puppets Shadow of the Giant Shadows in Flight
Speaker Series Speaker for the Dead Xenocide Children of the Mind
The Ender Series occurs during Ender’s early childhood to his late teens. It ends when he’s about 17 or 18 years old. The Speaker Series takes place 3000 years after the Ender Series, but to Ender, in his early 30s, it is only about ten relativistic years. The Speaker Series is very slow paced, and is very scientific and philosophical. It takes place in space after Ender is sent into exile by Locke, who actually saved his life by doing this. Valentine’s story is in the Speaker Series since she went with Ender into exile after the Formic War. The Shadow Saga is much more fast paced, similar to Ender’s Game and Ender’s Shadow. The Shadow Saga is the story about Bean and the other Battle School graduates on Earth. It’s also Peter’s story as Locke, and how he became Hegemon.
Ender in Exile really could stand by itself, it only barely fits into the Ender Series because we follow Ender immediately after the xenocide of the Formics. Most of it takes place between the chapters 15 and 16 of Ender’s Game. It is more of a sequel to Shadow of the Giant because we find out what happened to Bean and Petra’s last lost child, who is later known to be Arkanian Delphiki.
Welcome to this blog, and I hope that answered some questions. Enjoy reading the series, I loved it, and I hope you will too!

Explore the Art of Photography at Penumbra Foundation's Speaker Series
One critical aspect of becoming a great photographer is the continuous path of gaining knowledge. And no, it is not limited to learning about near gear but also about the kind of work they view. This could mean looking at photo books, exhibitions, or even attending talks by photographers. The last option is quite engaging, while it allows one to interact with the creator of the work in person. If…
