Tldr: I am going to be insane about Steel forever thank you Brennan

Now, I know that in all reality, Steel is Definitely going to try to protect Suvi by telling everybody that Ame and Eursulon enchanted her or bewitched her or kidnapped her or something, but listen. Walk with me.

Please imagine a world in which Steel can't bear to admit that the Wizard Sky, Sage of the Penumbra and her surrogate daughter, was inadequately prepared for the magic of witches and wild ones. Please imagine a world where, in Steel's mind, it would be better for the Citadel to consider Sky dead. A world where Steel, who lives in a world of lies and killed her best friend because she had been too changed by the world, feels that Suvi is dead, in perhaps the only way Steel is still able to reconcile the idea of saving her, resurrecting her, taking away that witch and that wild one and bringing her Suvi, her Sky, back to the Citadel. Please imagine a world where the Empire and the Tower consider together that the Wizard Sky is dead. No scrying can find her, there is no evidence she still lives, her tower left filled with her work, and so she must be dead, because who would leave the Empire?

And Steel is given a new burden to carry. The foxfire wreaths her so she can never truly hide, and yet within her powerful, dangerous, truth-hiding lie-making empire-loving justification machine, there is a small piece of grit that grinds against the gears. The Wizard Sky is alive, but that is not her Sky, and so it cannot be so, because she put so much effort into her, and Steel cannot reconcile that to what she has become.

Okay so

I have been reading this fanfiction called Skin and Soul Deep by Luvo on Ao3 (highly recommend they do a fantastic job and it's very wholesome and wonderful) and I got zapped by the creation gods and spent over two weeks of my real life making this:

So because I spent all this time I am going to talk about what everything is.

SO. there's a lot going on here. I'm going to do an organized list of colours, and then soulmarks from other people that are not the bad kids on each other.

Royal Purple- Gorgug

Skye Blue- Adaine

Copper- Fabian

Red- Fig

Bright Green- Riz

Yellow- Kristen

Now, for each mark on the bad kids that was not each other:

Fabian

- Cathilda's mark is on Fabian's right heel

- Fabian's mama is on his collarbone

-Bill Seacastor has left a shining prick of gold in Fabian's eye (I know it said his faded but Riz got his Pok one so yunno I do what I want)

Riz

-Poks mark on his forehead, right at his hairline. Debated having it go into his hair and decided I liked that it could be hidden if Riz needed. Felt very him

- Sklonda's hands on his arms

- Penny's bubblegum pink on his hand! Very cute, very friendly

- you can't see it because his mouth isn't open but his tongue is bone white. Because Baron. I debated it having stained his lips but decided just the tongue would be cooler

Gorgug

- Digby and Wilma's hands on his arms

- realised Ragh should be there but decided this scene (not present in the fic) was before him and Ragh are soulmates

Adaine

- very very subtle but Aelwyn's mark is right on the edge of her ear

- the fic said Jawbones mark was a scratch but fuck it a bite looks way cooler

- Ayda's hand from their handshake

(note for fig. Kristen's mark doesn't look yellow because it's shaded on her neck)

- Sandra Lynn's mark on the side of her forehead

- Ayda's given her a fire-y streak that breaks all hair colour laws shhhhhh

- Gorthalax's mark on her calf. It's supposed to be more subtle but whatever

- Tracker's fingerprints on her wrist (I like how they look like dog pads)

- Bucky, Bricker, and Cork's various handprints (I LOVE THE APPLEBEES CHILDREN AND I AM SO SAD THEY DIDN'T GET MORE SCREEN TIME)

Other notes:

- Yes their nails are all painted to match Cassandra

- yes I spent too long doing the shading for it to be this mediocre

- yes the poses are traced I used the lovely Melon_Soup's poses because I can't do anatomy to save my life (on digital. I'm decent on paper)

- yes I read this fic like 5 times because I needed to check where the marks were

- yes I'm aware the carpet looks like it's not carpet. Spare it the suffering I judge it hard enough already
