The Fair
Requested by a friend ♡
It was late August and the fair that passes by before the start of term was back again. As per usual you and your friends all went.
When you first got there it was still light, but an orange haze had begun to set overhead. The rides and stalls around you were the same, but they still never failed to amaze you.
As you walked around you saw other people you knew from your classes. Seokjin, Namjoon, Yoongi, Jungkook, Taehyung and Hoseok.
They were the “cool kids” of the school, so to speak. But something was missing. Oh yeah, Jimin wasn’t with them. Park Jimin, every girl in the school’s crush at some point, and yours. Deciding it was nothing unusual, you carried on walking with your friends. You got a burger and a big of sweets then headed to a bench to sit down and eat.
Around half an hour had passed when you spotted a cotton candy head of hair approach you.
Park Jimin.
Okay, you thought to yourself. Don’t mess this up, y/n.
“Hey Jimin!”
“Oh, hi y/n.” He said. He looked a little sad and lost.
“What’s up? Why are you alone?” You asked.
He ruffled his hair a little in embarrassment. “I, uh, lost the other guys and I haven’t been able to find them again…”
“Oh, well do you want to hang around with us tonight?” You asked casually. Smooth y/n.
“You don’t mind?” He checked, as if hanging out with him was a burden. “Not at all.” He smiled at you, his eyes crinkling and his cheeks puffing up a little. Get it together…
You left your group of friends with Jimin and started to look at different stalls. The sun had started to set more and now the haze had become more red and pink.
Jimin dragged you over to the hook-a-duck stall.
“Come on y/n! I’ll win something, definitely!” He sounded so excited over a child’s game. Cute.
He paid the woman running the booth for a chance and picked up a hook. “Okay…” His tongue poked out of his lips in concentration.
When he chose and hooked his duck, the woman allowed you to choose an item from the second row of prizes. Jimin immediately picked a Ryan plush bear with a bow on its head.
Deciding that it’s your turn to choose an attraction, you grabbed his arm and pulled him towards a large ride. Seeing where you were taking him, Jimin tried to pull away.
“No no no, y/n. I’m not going on that!” He insisted.
“Come on, Jimin, it’s not that bad!” You tried to get him to come with you. “I promise it’s more fun than scary when you’re on there.”
He reluctantly followed you up to the ride. When you reached the front of the queue, Jimin’s nerves started to kick in again.
“Are you absolutely sure it’s safe?” He checked for the 100th time.
“Yes, Jimin. Like I said: It’s perfectly safe.” You guaranteed.
When you were seated, Jimin grabbed your hand, making you jump.
“I’m scared, let me do this…” He said shyly. With your cheeks slowly turning red from the contact, the ride started. As did Jimin’s screams. If it weren’t for the thrill of being swung in the air, Jimin’s high-pitched screaming would have continued. Instead they turned into loud yells of excitement.
After the ride was over it was finally dark. Your watch read 10:32pm, time to head home soon.
For the last ride you went on the huge Ferris Wheel over looking the entire fair. You sat opposite each other and slowly rode towards the top. When you reached the highest point, the wheel stopped to allow more people on.
Below you the lights of the fair shone like stars. A small gasp from Jimin caused you to look his way. As you did you noticed the lights reflecting in his eyes.
He turned to look at you when he felt your gaze. After holding eye contact for a few seconds you both turn away laughing quietly.
When you look back at him, you notice he’s blushing and looking away. He looks back at you and smiles sweetly.
“So, y/n…” He begins.
“Yeah, Jimin.”
“I was wondering if you, uhm, maybewantedtogoonadatesometime?” He rambled the last part so fast it was almost inaudible. “I mean if not then that’s fine, you’re probably not interested or anything but ah…” He continued to mumble.
“Jimin,” You laughed. “Yes, I would love to go on a date with you.”
At your answer his eyes grew wide before transforming into his killer eye-smile that never fails to make your heart flutter.
As the ride starts to move, you take in your surroundings again and commit the moment to memory. A blushing Jimin and a thousand shining lights below you, truly a perfect sight.
— Time Skip : 10 Years —
“Jimin! Wait! I’m too old for this, now!” You complained as your boyfriend pulled you towards a large ride.
“Oh come on, y/n! We haven’t been here for 10 years! And it’s our anniversary…” He began to pout, knowing you can’t resist it.
You let him drag you over to the ride, the nostalgia of high school coming over you again. The thrill of being twirled around in the air remained the same since that night, and so did Jimin’s yells.
Again you let him win you a stuffed toy on a game. However it had changed from Hook-A-Duck to Darts. He got a Brown plush with a matching bow, just like the Ryan at home.
When the sun had set you went back to the Ferris wheel that started the adventure of your relationship.
As you reached the peak you remembered the lights and yet again they reflected in Jimin’s eyes. They never lost their sparkle.
This time there was no awkward laughter when you caught him staring back at you. But you did hear Jimin take a large breath before fully turning towards you.
“Y/n,” He started. “I know I’ve said this a million times, but I’ll keep saying it. I’ve always loved you, you are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen, even if you don’t think so yourself.” Another deep breath. “I brought you back here not just for our anniversary, but for something else too…”
You saw him reach behind you and felt your eyes start to fill with tears. Is this real?
“Y/n, will you-” He didn’t even get to finish what he was saying or even open the small black box before you were nodding furiously and leaping at him. The tears in your eyes were now rolling down your cheeks. Jimin laughed a little at your behaviour. You came apart and he slipped the ring onto your finger. It perfectly fit the eternity ring he had bought you for your 5th anniversary.
You reached the bottom of the wheel and linked hands. When you reached your car he stole a kiss from you unsuspectingly.
“So I’m thinking a Summer Wedding.” Jimin laughed.
