Our special needs duck, Puddles, is taking a bath under the watchful eye of @giyaday, our morning caretaker. Puddles was born with a crooked neck that is irreparable because it wasn’t corrected when he was a chick, causing the vertebrae to fuse. He was hatched on a local farm to be one of several ducks sold at a fair’s meat auction by a little boy in 4H. Luckily for Puddles, his disability actually saved his life. He was not “perfect” and therefore could not be shown at auction, being given to us at the sanctuary to live his life in peace. Puddles just had an appointment last week with Dr. Speer @medicalcenterforbirds in Oakley. He prescribed him some new pain meds to keep him comfortable and help with mobility. We love you, Puddles!
