You can see how MPS affected our MPS cousin Smooshy who we miss very much 💜 . MPS-VI stands for Mucopolysaccharidosis Type 6. It is a rare genetic disorder that causes a deficiency of arylsulfatase B in the body. Arylsulfatase is an enzyme that breaks up mucopolysaccharides, which are sugar molecules that the body uses to build connective tissue. If your body cannot replace old cells with newly formed cells due to sugar molecules being unable to build connective tissue, those who have the disease suffer in many ways – such as skeletal, facial, and spinal deformities. . In some cases, even neurological problems. Animals may not show signs at birth; however, as they grow older, symptoms can begin to appear. As cute as they are, their pain can become unbearable. .
