Both frankie and andi having split two-toned uniform motifs giving them a half full/half empty feeling, but also clearly depicting it as their casual wear that they’re comfortable in (or in andi's case too sleep deprived to get out of). Andi pulling frankie out of her hallucinating states, and frankie being the wind under andi’s wing was beautiful.

Our Gwen (#mygwen) stripped of her hairballs laid out on the slab also giving fallen monarch vibes a la narnia reference. Recovered from the trash Battle Angel Alita reference. Terminator and Ghost in the Shell influence is strong. Kind of low-key hoping for a Dorothy/bigO reference but we’ll see how they handle their fight scenes. Definitely feel like we’ll get an ultron scene where she somehow sways the other Gwen’s to rebel. Would be really funny if they re-enacted that scene in End Game where all the girls wordlessly gather for the slow-mo shot so they pad out their “women together onscreen” checkbox time.

You could probably also make a joke about all three of them being metaphorically linked to metal objects and having to get beaten and molded into their roles. The shield being stretched too thin or taking too hard of a blow. The sword rolled too tight in its formation before its been annealed. The crown needing to be made of delicate highly refined materials to have precious gems socketed into it.

Olivia depicted as the crescent moon, cyclical by nature. No indication of her having an heir to pass on her role to, whether that be through isolation or her not going to be needing an heir like her father did. Her parks orbiting the planet like moons, and causing eclipse effects is fun. Oliver depicted as the sun; ever present, god-like creator role. Removed from blame through death(?), really curious what the crew will have to say for his character. The mother is not fleshed out (heh) at all. Lots of “is gwen supposed to be her mom” vibes but also was the mom actually ever present at all or was she someone that walked out instead of died?

Also I know glitch’s whole show funding process is merch based, but I can’t NOT be feeling weird about it after watching frankie collect wasted merch for scrap plastics. Here’s hoping I can find a patreon or maybe a blue ray box release. The jacket design is sick though.

I love Jurassic park; all the speculative bio and super realistic dinosaur puppets, the whole “man’s folly is the overconfidence on their plans” and the inevitable failure, and the enduring hope for a peaceful resolution.

But I also loved the repeated themes across all the movies with glass and cameras. How they used it to separate and create a boundary of safety, but also used it to warp and skew the narrative. Something about it really pulled me in, like how I was watching the screen in the safety of my home.

Taking off the shades in disbelief, the kids peering out the jeep windows and the big lady herself peering above them through the sunroof. The security system being put on a loop to hide the betrayal, and the loss of the glasses being his downfall.

The photographer trying to “show a different perspective” through her documentation to try and defend their right to exist, and the ultimate unfailable RV failing with the shattered window (and of course being dangled off the side of the cliff). The first instance of human dinosaur overlap being reported as illegal poaching.

The view from the front of the plane’s cockpit seat as it was coming to a horrible crash. The kid’s camera leading them to the previous research facility, where the raptors used the glass tubes to hide their approach on the group. The aviary’s glass walls generating its own ominous weather to up the suspense of essentially, an air shark attack. The guy hiding eggs in the camera bag endangering the whole group even further.

All of the monitoring devices attached to the I-Rex cage insisting everything was ok, optimal, normal, with the scratch marks on the glass overlapping with the lady’s position. The use of infrared cameras to “be able to track anything” the new indestructible vehicles being all angle viewing glass baubles as a spot for the boys to have a touching base moment, while surrounded by modern marvels.

I had mixed feelings on iron lung(2026), but only because I kept getting dejavu to Ash(2025) I watched a year prior, and couldn’t mentally watch and appreciate it in a vacuum without comparing the two. Was I infected with a jaded mentality dragging me out of the moment? Or did I just really really really have to pee, and my brain dialed down any excitement I had with “you’ve seen this before, go do your thing”?

I didn’t have anything against either movies, and would happily watch both again, but idk how to put it! It was eery! Tickling in the back of my brain like the blood and clingy gunk in both movies! Having a brief glimpse into the unending cosmic horror, again! And the great horror that unraveled all who encountered it gazed back upon me, again!

There was some stuff I just completely missed like the other thing skulking in background before the onset of the gunk. Me being directionally challenged and not being able to read his mapping at all. The audio needing another pass for legibility. Maybe the streaming dvd version will be better, but that’s a shame since usually the theatre version has the superior audio quality.

That was really funny though that the “moving skeleton” that lived in a sea of blood was being blasted by radiation repeatedly and then glued the radiation blaster ray to permanently blasting itself. Maybe that was a Mmm yummy for it. I also got kind of tickled with the radiation camera being the only way you see through blood when actual lake and ocean floor mapping doesn’t rely on light based sensors or cameras either, usually utilizing sonar waves to move through the liquid environment. I feel like something messing with the “camera’s” audio frequency or responding in kind to deep base waves would have been just as scary as “skeleton” but idk. Maybe thats stepping on subnautica’s toes too much.

Anyways onto the similarities.

The isolated main character dedicating their life to a noble cause(plant punk AF baby). The plants kind of standing in as a symbol for religion, faith, and humanity’s tenacity and acting as an anchor for the main character. The failed attempts at connecting to the other human cast in their extremely restricted stage/setting, who do understand the importance of the plants, but don’t have anywhere near the same connection or expertise to it as they do. The plant character not being able to use their plant knowledge to help their dire circumstances. The backstory and extended memories cast not really being utilized to further the plot. The accidentally murdering another member of the human cast, and coming to terms with your betrayal to the group? The head injury hindrance allowing for hallucinations and questioning of current reality. The gas lighting mind games from the remote party begging for help and solidarity in their shared disaster? Despite the remote party being revealed as already lost? Are they a new hope? Salvation? Or just a higher being fucking with your life for aura farming? You’re already lost! You’re dead too, you just don’t know it yet.

prefacing last post with like, I have an account on all those, but like I never use those the way I use this. I don't even use this site as an intended blogging platform for projects or for life story updates, but more as a virtual scrapbooking platform.

And I don't consider myself an inherently social person, but all these other sites feel like personally indexing or responding to things outside of being a creator is a punishable offense.

Twitter was my facebook for traffic, outages, and local shop events full stop.

I'm on at least 10 development discords that I never talk in just to get occasional updates. I've been on 3 different indie game discords that I watched all the fanart and kit crafting for potential community character designs get nuked. All the personal discords I join go silent and dissolve after about 4 months, or have a very meat grinder-esque vibe of bringing people in. Everything is in DM's.

I skulk around on 2 subreddits with little to no posting, just answering easy questions and unstucking people every couple weeks. I do enjoy the r/sub format for aggregating specific interests, but it doesn't have a more personalized catalogue system where I can album my favorites into r/sub format or anything.

Youtube does do a decent job aggregating reactions to your content, but as a viewer you pretty much only have comments that will be lost to the ether and playlists to virtually scrapbook your favorites, and that's like public likes with only one general message across multiple videos. The best format for that site to interract with others is to also be a creator, and do collaborations and 'react' content with each other. I'd like it if i could put a comment on each video in a playlist for why i added it to the playlist, but all the features they push out are for uploading your own content(understandable).

I hang out consistantly on a couple art twitch streams for the past couple years, but the term parasocial hovers in the background like a loaded pistol in the other room. And the clip system is phenomenal, but again terrible to sort through and categorize later into favorites. And also just plain dangerous for artists now with AI scraping...

Bluesky doesnt seem to have any form of personalized cataloguing for posts that I can see from timeline and deep diving someone's page. So I can't use it like tumblr. So I don't want to use it unless I create something.... but my hobbies and interests are scattered to the four corners and not consolidated to any one focus.

so the me on other sites? its not gonna be the me on here unfortunately. It's going to be an even quieter me.

I want to work on a fanart to give to some panelists at ikkicon next year, but I gotta brainstorm some ideas. I don't want to make it too complicated so i finish it before the 10th. I could do a piece for one of the shows they worked on, or I could do a little fanart for their iron artist segment.

If i do the former I can just pick a character and do a mid body portrait, and be like "love you guys" and give it during their portfolio review segment after the first panel.

If I do the latter, I can probably go buy some board panels and do a little doodle on the backs, and i can give them at the morning panel before the evening panel. I figured out last year how to make a one color pin mockup if i wanted to do a trinket too, but limited to black and minor metallic right now for color options. I could print a block panel and people could use that to draw on one side, and could make the other side like a blank pin... but that might be too complicated. These ideas would all be something utility based more than artistic, which might not go over as well with an artist panel though lmao

Two of their shows got greenlit for next year too though, which might make better hype thank you if I do like a "hell yeah lets go again".
