((Rainboo would be concerned but his ass it out like a light atm. That said...CHUG ARTHUR CHUG.))
ENCOURAGEMENT ONLY MAKES HIM MORE POWERFUL
Arthur made it back home.
It had been a bit of a trip. Upthur had run off somewhere he knew, and Downthur was-- somewhere else. He hadn’t been paying attention where he was going so he’d been a bit lost-- and when they snapped together he was midway between the two. Startled the crap out of some vultures, where he’d just popped up on the road. Oops.
Now he was home at least. He was wobbling with each step. Between Upthur’s near frantic excitement and running around, and Downthur not sleeping, he wasn’t sure how he was awake still. But he didn’t particularly want to sleep, so he opened the fridge for an energy drink.
His hands shook, the metal one jerked, and Arthur made a noise as he got sloshed by his drink as it hissed open. He was about to grumble, when it jerked again.
He-- wasn’t doing that.
Cold hit the back of his neck, and he dropped the can. It sprayed a little where it hit the ground, aluminum denting, but his eyes stayed fixed on the prosthetic. The fingers jolted, moving on their own. He could see the occasional light inside: sparks.
The last time this had happened had been--
Arthur sucked in a breath and held his arm. Now that he focused, beyond the tired, something-- felt off. Wrong. Like the tension when watching a movie right before the Big Bad showed up. It was just a feeling, and maybe it didn’t mean anything, but his arm was being weird, reacting to something...
Arthur snagged his phone from a pocket to call Vivi. He turned it on, before yelping as the arm yanked now that it was free. What the hell was happening?! It’d done this once, when his Mystery had been possessed. So did that mean--?
It happened again, and Arthur stumbled as it led him only semi-willingly to the door. He squawked and nearly broke his neck on the porch stairs, before shakily sending Vivi a text with the hand still holding his phone.

There is a very angry Rainboo, grabbing and hugging his noodle boyfriend while glaring at Gray Face. How dare.
Arthur is being held again. He’s starting to get used to looking at things from so high up. Is that good?
“Uh. Lew. Big guy, it’s okay. They’re just trying you know-- to stir things up. You don’t have to worry. They’re-.....most of them are harmless.”
spectrum-skull replied:
There's arms once again wrapping around Arthur and glaring at the gray being. Spectrum not letting you talk shit about his boyfriend like that. Nope.
Arthur shifts a little in Lewis’s hold, rubbing at his arm. “It... it’s fine, Lew.”
He wasn’t running anymore. He had texted Vivi and he hoped she got it, but he wouldn’t be able to check. He’d had a thought and sprinted to Kingsmen Mechanics (not far given Tempo’s size at least, and was now on a bike he’d snagged that had been waiting for its owner, since the van wasn’t there and it was all that they had. It rumbled down the road going a little too fast as he accelerated, keeping his eyes on the beam coming from his ring.
He had a helmet on at least so it was probably fine, though he hadn’t had time for anything else. Without a jacket or gloves, he was definitely shivering from the wind gusting his skinny frame, shearing against his chest and arms. The prosthetic was cold and he could feel it at his arm, but he ignored it for now.
Whatever got him to Spectrum faster.
They had enough supplies here at Spectrum’s thanks to Vivi, that he could make due. The book he’d been given for the holiday also was a help.
Arthur sat in a circle he’d drawn with chalk on the floor, and quickly flipped through the pages with shaky fingers. He arm had stopped after seeing... whatever that thing had been, and while it had laced the threat in what it said, he wasn’t one to listen. And Vivi was quite a collector of spells that actually did what they said they did.
Searing..... Summoning.... Tremor-- no he went too far. Ah! There it was.
Tracking.
Taking a deep breath, he put the proper lines down, quick as he could while still being meticulous. When they were on the floor, he placed the map on the center in front of him, and began to chant the words in the book. The lines took on a yellow.
Mana said he could do this. Magic didn’t mix with him, not since things had gone wrong, but he couldn’t do nothing while Spectrum was with that thing. It’d felt familiar, and anything familiar and green could only be....
He swallowed and forced himself to focus. The lines glowed brighter under his hand and he winced as his palm started to burn, but kept his hand where they stayed, speaking the words clearly. They grew so bright he could see the green tinting them with shallow specks, but that made sense. He grit his teeth and kept going.
With a sudden burst, the map burst into flame in front of him. It curled in on itself, burning hot and bright and gold in front of him, and leaving spots over his vision. But he kept going, even as the heat seared it’s way up his arm like he’d shoved it in an oven. It leaked into his chest and he hissed, feeling everything tighten until he was getting dizzy from the lack of air. But still, he didn’t slow, brow scrunching and eyes hard.
With the last word, the map crumbled to ash.
No-- no no did he-- did he mess up? Did he fuck up the spell? He wouldn’t put it past him. Or-- did that mean it was like--
The ash continued to move and when his prosthetic hand brushed at the remains, he uncovered something that had been buried. Amongst the blackened soot, a ring that shone like silver with other colors banded in it rested, glimmering like a rainbow.
Without a thought, he slipped it on.
A light flashed, and he was seeing spots all over again. He rubbed at his face with his metal hand, and when he drew it back, he could see-- refracted light from the band. It pointed at the wall, a whisper thin rainbow line. He turned his hand, even his body, but the beam didn’t change directions, still steadfastly pointing to that wall.
That-- that had to be the tracking spell. If he followed it, he could find Spectrum.
Without wasting more time. Arthur stood back up. He limped for a few moments, before hitting his stride again. He grabbed a bag from the closet and stuffed anything supernatural-related in it he could find that might be helpful. He made sure to take Spectrum’s bat, and something on exorcisms especially, given the sickly green pallor. It seemed like it had it’s own body, but that didn’t mean it couldn’t get kicked back to wherever it came from. At the very least he could throw the book if he wanted.
When the duffel was full with as many things as he was willing to carry, he rushed out the door and down to the street, before letting the ring lead his way.
