SPEECHEGO
(pt: speech ego)
• speech • alterego •
A plural term for alters, facets, fragments, minds, etc. who represent a certain speech style, as opposed to complete alters who simply have a certain speech style. Speechegos do not control the body or think, necessarily, but only dictate how the body speaks, verbally or otherwise. For example:
• When one speechego is active, the body speaks casually, but when the other is active, the body speaks formally.
• When one speechego is active, the body speaks in their native accent, but with other speechegos, the body speaks in foreign accents.
This term can be used however the user sees fit. One can have a single speechego which is active when an alter who has no distinct speech style is fronting, etc.
Beings with more than one speechego may have times where it's hard to decide what to say, due to conflicting speechegos being active at the same time.
Speechegos may have names, pronouns, and really any other aspect of identity, but they don't need to.
They can be active at the same time as a headmate, mind, etc. is fronting, but may be more active when the current fronter is unclear.
They may form for any reason, but some reasons may include: different speech styles around different friend groups or groups of people in general; hyperfixations/special interests; kintypes; etc.
Alternative terms: speechalter, speechmate, speechmind; these are based on terms we have seen, but any user may come up with a term they prefer.
