I see you complain a lot because of the lack of POC in SW. If you could make a SW movie with only POC people who would it be. You'd have to say who'd be the main, the antagonist, the best friend (etc). Thanks love you're blog!!
A Star Wars movie with only poc…that’s the dream that we’ll never see, isn’t it?
Anyway, oooh, picking a premise is hard. I’d love to see a movie about the Knights of the Old Republic, but I’d also love a movie about really badass bounty hunters. The struggle is real. But I’ll go with a movie about the Jedi set in the Old Republic.
The lead- A young Jedi named Liana on the verge of becoming a master. She’s a bit arrogant, but you can hardly blame her when you see her skills. She loves to fight but hates to lose. She’s definitely got a soft side. Her desire to be the best comes from a strict upbringing with the Jedi. Definitely some insecurity issues deep down. She’s played by Diane Guerrero.
Her master- Viera just wants to keep Liana in check, but her padawan seems convinced that she’s ready to become a master. Though Viera has been to hell and back as a Jedi, and isn’t sure if she’s ready to see her student go through the same pain that she has endured. She’s played by Angela Basset.
The love interest- A bounty hunter named Vatari who Liana ran across on a mission and of course later has something she needs on the main villain. He’s really not one to help the Jedi, but they don’t really give him the option. He’s a bit swaggering, and Liana likes to knock him down a few pegs whenever she can, and he returns the favor. He’s played by Godfrey Gao.
The best friend- Aja, Liana’s polar opposite in almost every way. She’s just as skilled as Liana, but she’s less of a show off. But they were brought up together as padawans, so they feel closer than sisters. While Liana is more of a fighter, Aja feels a stronger spiritual connection to the Force. She is played by Sonequa Martin Green.
The villain- A Sith Lord, of course, named Erri. She left the Jedi order at a young age because they felt she was too volatile and they weren’t training her to her fullest potential. She came back, stronger than they imagined she could become, and her feelings towards the Jedi are, this goes without saying, not positive. She’s played by Grace Park.
So yeah, Lucasfilm, hire me. I’m available.
