Spell bags go by many names across different magical traditions. You may have heard of them as mojo bags, witch bags, charm bags or gris gris but their purpose is universal: to carry your intentions with you and keep your magic close at hand. ✨💎🧿👛🌿🌼🎀✨
Anti-Nightmare Spell Bag
This bag is best made during the new moon. To recharge your bag, place it outside or on a windowsill during the new moon for a few hours each month.
Your spell bag should be kept under your pillow or beside your bed.

Note: each of the following ingredients have correspondences of tranquility, peace, and relaxation to banish nightmares and increase peaceful energy within your dreams.
purple or white candle or purple string
muslin bag
bowl
piece of paper

jasmine
star anise
thyme
Choose which crystal(s) you would prefer to use, if any:
Note: each of the crystals listed below have correspondences of restful sleep or they have anti-nightmare properties.

Steps
Cleanse your bag in your method of choice.
Add your ingredients (excluding any crystals) into a bowl. Mix together and add to the bag.
Add any crystals you want to use to the bag.
Write your intention or draw a sigil on your piece of paper. Add it to your bag.
Seal with the wax of the purple or white candle, depending on what you have readily available. Alternatively, you can use string if you cannot use fire.
Place under a new moon to charge.
Keep under your pillow or beside your bed.

I made a sleep bag and oh my fucking god it's working what the fuck bro I genuinely did not expect this like I am a practicing witch, but I'm still stuck in a lil bit of skepticality (?) but on fucking god best sleeps I've had for the past few nights. what the fuck spell bag I love you
I know it's Xmas but if y'all could check out the shop, it'd be an amazing gift to me. We have very very little money and we're extremely worried about how we're going to afford things going forward if business doesn't pick back up. Please check out Etsy.com/shop/MoonlightGoblins or let me know if you'd like to get a tarot reading ($10). Thank you 🙏🏻💖

Any tips for baby witches? I've been everywhere on Pinterest but I don't really know where to start. Been having trouble figuring out what I should focus on and how I should do things even though I know that it should be my own craft. I just feel kinda stuck and am looking for guidance.

Why do people say you have to seal off a spell jar? I understand not wanting unwelcome things to go in, but how does it work if the welcome things cannot come out of the jar?? I tend to just do pouches, can you talk about the different reasons to do either, spell bags or spell jars? Thank you!
People say to seal them off because sealing things off in a spell jar works kind of like a bracket in math - everything within the bracket should be considered one discrete thing, so sealing it off is basically the close-bracket of your spell equation. As for your second question, the tint or finish of the jar can determine that! If a jar is clear or transparent, it'll be similar to a porous spell pouch or something else that would allow the ingredients to "travel", if a spell jar is amber, or opaque, that would trap or keep the ingredients inside to be sealed. You'd want to choose the jar that suits your purpose - if you're trying to obfuscate something or do a binding spell that traps things with banefuls, I'd opt for the amber or brown glass, if you're trying to attract, go with the clear glass.
As for spell bags vs spell bottles, I think it's a matter of origin! Spell pouches and bags are commonly used in an array of practices including hoodoo, and use a different set of "instructions", as I'm sure you're familiar with (color of the pouch, etc), and much of the tumblr-style spell jars come from an understanding of European folk magic traditions. Basically - depending on the framework of your own magic, either pouches or jars might be more suitable based on how your own craft is structured!
