Disposing of Spell Ingredients
Open Question:
Hmm how would one dispose of a person’s name (particularly a friend), left over from a Severing Ties spell?
Was totally ok with the friend to do this. Their friend I cut from their life was super toxic and had no concept of boundaries. Obviously burn away the relationship that was no longer wanted. But what of my friend’s name? It’s currently living inside my Sailor Moon Grail Proplica (conveniently inside the crystal) for good vibes, but I want to record the spell for future reference inside my Book of Shadows.
How to deal with the name you don’t want banished? I’m thinking burning it with a different candle to burn away all that was in the past, but not quite sure. Also thought about burying it but as I live in an apartment, not exactly an ideal situation when the only houseplant I have is half-dead (a gift from my sister. A succulent and I’m surprised it’s not totally dead, but moving it outside has kept it alive a little longer).
Any ideas???
how do you dispose of the candles after you’ve completed this?
Not sure what specific spell you are asking about. Leftover candle wax from spellwork makes a nice fire starter. I typically collect old (flammable) spell ingredients to burn together on Beltane like a big spring cleaning.
You can always cleanse spell components after they've been used and repurpose what is salvageable - reuse or recycle their containers.
Any suggestions on disposing cleansing spell materials could I wrap it up in paper then tie it with white thread then get a ziplock and put sage and salt in it then put the wrapped paper in it then throw it in the trash ?
Hey there! Great question!Personally I don’t like to throw away things that could be composted, so I’d compost everything that you can. If you have inorganic materials, yes, throwing them away is appropriate, but I would try not to throw away this all contained in a plastic baggie, and not with a bunch of salt. I personally don’t feel weird about just tossing stuff in the recycling or garbage instead of ceremoniously discarding things, but i get that many people do feel the need to have a sort of ritual to dispose things.Overall, just be kind to the earth, dispose of things in the most eco-friendly way possible, and if that involves a ritual for you then go for it :) i just don’t feel a need to cleanse the remains of cleansing spells since they’re cleansing ingredients already :)
