This is an unexpected and a major breakthrough for Siri! As a mother, I am numbed by the way Siri responded yesterday when she was assessed by Dawnmarie Gaivin, www.TranscendingApraxia.com for Spell2Communicate. One more significant step she climbs on. Dawnmarie read Siri the story of Benjamin Franklin and asked her a few questions where she was expected to spell with the help of a board. I was disappointed the way Dawnmarie started the session with such complex concept of understanding a story with no interesting words in it. I was going to request her to pause the session and hear my suggestion of using a Sesame Street or Winnie the Pooh story to ask Siri to spell the answers. I am so glad that I held back. Dawnmarie went through the story very quickly but still Siri retained all the details and answered 95% of her questions correctly. Neither me nor her dad got as many questions as Siri answered correctly. Brooke one of the therapists attended the session and we are starting S2C for Siri with her under Dawnmarie's guidance soon. I will share the video recorded of the session when I receive it. Ammalu Siri, I am so proud of you, na chitti chilakamma <3 ... God bless you multiple folds raja. #mynameissiri #designsbysiri #spell2communicate #siri #Autism (at Pleasanton, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CWBnSzYPesW/?utm_medium=tumblr
Latest entry from self-advocate and micro blogger Graciela L, who spells to communicate, on her forum “Dare to Listen.” G and her mother Susie partnered with Growing Kids Therapy Center in 2013 to build what is now the single largest community of spellers in the United States; in the city of #Atlanta #Georgia.
