Sphero Is Getting Out Of The Licensed Products Game

Sphero, the company that brought app controlled versions of BB-8 and R2-D2 home, is discontinuing it’s licensed product line. The company also makes characters from the ‘Cars’ series, as well as a talking Spider-Man.  The reasoning is purely economical - as Sphero President Paul Berberian points out:

"When you launch a toy, your first year's your biggest. Your second year's way smaller, and your third year gets really tiny."

With ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ still a year away, the move makes sense. The company will refocus on its educational toys which if you were a fan of your R2 or BB-8, you should probably check out.

According to my BB8, my 5yo sister is an 'AGGRESSIVE LIFEFORM' because she keeps picking him up and accidentally knocking his head off. And he has began to run away from her everytime he detects her. She's crying as a result because "I just want to play with my BABY!!!"

today i bought a sphero bb-8 and hes been in explore mode for the last 20 minutes AND HE KEEPS GETTING LOST AND CONFUSED
