The Bargain is the second book in the Dalton Family Series and starts right where My Enemy, My Obsession left off. I recommend to read this series in order, for the full experience of this story.
This is a super engaging romance that’s full of dark family secrets, betrayals, and a passionate, forbidden attraction. It had me totally mesmerized!
Ethan is a billionaire entrepreneur who is helping Sophia advance her fashion clothing brand “Zoey” as well as her career, ever since they have become involved. But as there continues to be a push and pull between them will Sophia and Ethan ever get to their HEA!
This author is a master of storytelling! I couldn’t put this book down. I read it in one sitting, completely captivated by the plot. The cliffhanger at the end was a real surprise!

In reference to Canach's ability to choose gender and the sylvari's ability to 'grow what we want'. Canon states that the Pale Tree chooses a sylvari’s gender in the pod but we do not know how the Pale Tree decides upon that. Perhaps each individual sylvari’s thoughts and choices in the Dream effect that decision? This quote can also be found in the wiki “To the sylvari, sex and gender are as inconsequential as hair color” so once they are sprouted who is to say they do not have the ability to change that or the shape and design of their genitals? Especially if they can change things on their body like their hair and facial hair and their glow color, i.e. Canach’s glow is orange when he first appears, but later on when you see him in his casino his glow is yellow, possibly yellow/green but that could be a mix of the ambient green light of the club. And at one brief moment during the World Summit for some reason his glow was green (I know because I have a screenshot, I’m not obsessed, you are).

It’s a powerful story, and I ate it up. Though there were some errors they didn’t detract from the story, I did predict the who though 🥸

I read this book after finding a tiktok about it. I did not read the series but this book starts off with an online friendship, and it seems ok. But then it gets a little weird, when you go through and realize that the entire series takes place over maybe 6mo it makes you question the main characters sanity. At what point do you let a stranger who you met online live with you and keep you under watch 24/7? Yes there is a threat, which they kind of try to tie in but it resolves itself in the cleanest way possible and doesn’t make any sense. There are things mentioned that maybe get tied in later in the series but doubtful. It tends to also fall into a rinse and repeat kind of story, along with “the best security team.”
Overall if you’re looking for a quiet guy who is intimidatingly possessive, this books for you.
