Realizing I literally have a 51 page draft for the Spider Project, long form fanfic I had been thinking of to explore events post ATWOW.

Eywa Loving Spider

I have to think that Eywa has been trying to give little hints that she likes/cares for Spider. I don't think him and Kiri would really have the connection they do or be as close as they are if that wasn't the case. We know that Kiri feels Eywa keenly, more than most Na'vi, so I have to imagine that if Eywa had negative feelings for Spider and his existence, she would feel it. 

In my mind, Eywa has probably been signaling that she likes Spider either by the presence of some Atokirina or maybe some of Eywa's more hostile creatures not attacking him when they plainly could. But because people kind of dislike Spider, there's never really any adults around to actually see the signs. 

But like they're all there! Maybe in the way he survives an encounter with a palulukan or the way the Sully family ikrans are okay with him touching them and riding them. The adults chalk it up to them having the same feelings as his friends do towards him through tsaheylu but it's actually more than that. 

I don't know, I'm hoping Eywa gives some clear sign about Spider being special and being one of the people in the next movie. I honestly want some big gesture like somehow becoming soul siblings with a tulkun or my personal favorite, Eywa blessing him so that he can breath Pandoran air. 

Spider just deserves to know he belongs there okay?!

Tsireya and Spider + Writing Update

So I don't know WHY but it's very important to me that Tsireya and Spider get along. Like in planning my big Spider project a scene with him and Tsireya randomly popped into my head and it is now canon to me. I just think that Tsireya has a very calming aura and I think Spider would actually be able to relax around her which is rare for him since he always has to be on edge. In my mind, they spend a lot of just quiet time together and Spider likes that she doesn't ask him questions so he doesn't ask her questions. Just a very pure friendship/companionship in my mind. 

This is especially important to me because I want Spider to be adopted by the Tonowari family and I think as he's learning to accept the newfound unconditional love for his parents, Tsireya would be his rock, a presence he feels comfortable around as he learns that it's ok to accept this love and parenting that has always seemed so out of reach to him. 

Like I just imagine Spider sitting quietly on the beach having been either overstimulated or upset about something and it's Tsireya who seeks him out, sitting next to him quietly, not doing anything. And eventually, he just lays his head on her shoulder, a tiny sign of relying on her, and he loves that she doesn't make a big deal out of it. 

IT'S SPECIAL TO ME GUYS, MAKES ME WANT TO CRY!

ALSO writing update on big project! It is officially 15 pages long and nothing big has even really happened yet so I guess this is definitely going to be a really long fic. So look forward to it I guess? 

Got to write Tonowari's perspective recently and that was interesting to explore so yay.

Fic Draft Excerpts!

I need some validation to fuel the speed of my writing, and I can't sit on the Spider Project quietly anymore so I will be sharing some random excerpts!

Also I have hit 27 pages so yay!

Funeral because Spider's mourning Neteyam too! :

The ethereal tendrils fell open to make way for Neteyam, accommodating perfectly to his shape. The tendrils then looped over his body, swathing him as if he were once again a baby, and pulled him into their heart. And then, then he was gone. 

Spider was struck with the sudden need to swim down and pull him out, to hold Neteyam's hand and never let go. But he blinked the thought away, focusing instead on the feeling of Kiri's hand in his, at the pulsing squeeze she gave him.

Someone's looking for Spider:

Her steps paused at the end of the path, and he could just barely glimpse the blue balls of her feet between the woven lats. 

The corners of his lips quirked upwards despite himself as he watched her heels shuffle from side to side. He'd always thought her feet were cute. Well, he thought every part of Kiri was cute really, so perhaps he wasn't exactly an objective observer. 

Protective Kiri because she loves him:

"You didn't have to do that," Spider said to her under his breath, glancing at her sideways. 

"Yes, I did. I'm not letting you do this alone," she retorted, holding his gaze. Not like you've already had to do.

Spider Fic Ideas

Guys... at this point I have too many fic ideas for him and it's like a problem, I am in college I don't have tiiiiiiiime but like.... I want to do it, so I'm gonna talk about the here a bit because I CAN

Obviously my Trudy lives AU. I don't know if it would be like a sequential thing or random oneshots of her raising Spider but I hope to write something

A project I'd like to call Spider's Lost Days. If anyone gets the reference (which you SHOULD), I do not apologize. Gonna be either sequential or random oneshots of his time with the recoms and Quarritch specifically. I'll have to actually probably rewatch the movie for this one though because I frankly don't remember any of the recoms aside from Quarritch (my badddd recom stans).

A BIG project I'm working on inspired by a few fics I speed read, one of which is Half Alive by @eirianerisdar (GO READ IT IF YOU HAVEN'T I BEG OF YOU). Basically it's going to follow mostly Spider but also the other characters directly after the events of the second movie. uhhh expect a lot of angst. I have actually started working on this but I don't think I'll start publishing it until I have a draft written. May be the first work of mine ever I'm going to seek beta readers for. 

Then, because the idea has possessed me, a fix-it fic set right after Jake and Tonowari get word of the recoms being nearby and "paying visits" to other clans looking for Jake and there are reports of a human boy who can speak Na'vi with them. Neteyam and Kiri somehow both separately overhear this conversation and both independently make the decision to go save him. They only actually realize the other is going when they both found the other mounting their ikrans (or ilus, haven't decided yet). Neteyam tries to get her to go back because he's a responsible big bro and she's like if you don't let me go, I'm gonna tell Lo'ak and then you'll have BOTH of us on your hands. So he relents because that would be a nightmare.
