You can read my previous prompts here. Or if you want you can even send in your own prompt.
Nancy fell down on the couch. It had been torture to get home. The subway had gotten stuck and it had taken an hour longer than it usually would have. So, opening the front door to her humble apartment had never been accompanied with this much relief.
Relief that evaporated into thin air when she turned on the TV.
“Spider-Man is taking a beating.” The news reporter said, microphone clutched in his hands and Nancy recognized him from the office. The guy was a jerk. Every time they ran into each other he started flirting with her as if she hadn’t already rejected him a dozen times.
But right now he had her undivided attention, something he apparently craved. Blurry images of Robin in her Spider-Man outfit flashed on the screen. Flashes of Robin falling to the ground, hard enough for the camera to shake. Flashes of Robin crawling back to her feet, slightly shaky and clutching at her shoulder for a brief moment.
Nancy shuffled toward the edge of the couch. Her right hand pressed to her mouth.
“Oh.” She gasped when Robin got knocked down again.
She shouldn’t watch this. But she couldn’t look away. Her heart beating heavily in her chest. They had only been dating for a little while. And this was the first time since their first kiss that Robin seemed to be losing a fight.
She’d get back up. She had to get back up. Why wasn’t she getting back up?
Nancy hadn’t even noticed that the fingers of her left hand were tapping against her thigh. This was worse torture than the subway.
“Come on. Come on. Come on, Robin. I can’t lose you.” She mumbled to the grainy image on the TV screen.
A dark figure slowly approached Robin who was still on the ground.
“Please, Robin. Get up! GET UP!!!”
At the very last second, Robin jumped up, kicking the figure back.
Nancy breathed out a heavy sigh. But as the camera zoomed in on Robin who was now taking the upper hand, Nancy noticed the cuts in the suit, she noticed the blood and the soft bruises that were forming. She definitely noticed the way Robin’s arm was angled, as if she was trying not to move it too much even though she kept hitting the dark figure.
“It looks like Spider-Man did it once again. The people in this city can sleep tight tonight knowing Spider-Man is here to keep them safe.” The jerk said, the camera once again focused on his smug face.
“Spider-Woman, you idiots.” But Nancy had a smile on her face. Robin would come waltzing through that door any second now.
It took 5 minutes before Nancy turned off the TV. Her eyes focused on her own front door instead. But the door didn’t open. Robin didn’t come in.
Nancy got up from the couch and started pacing the room. Something was wrong. Something had to be wrong.
“Nance?”
Nancy jumped up. Right outside her kitchen window, on the fire escape, stood Spider-Man still fully suited up. She was holding on to her waist. Nancy quickly slid open the window, pulling her girlfriend into the apartment.
“Careful, Nance.” Robin’s voice was muffled by the mask.
“Oh God, Robin. You scared the shit out of me. Are you okay?”
“Sorry.” Robin slumped against the kitchen counter. “I couldn’t walk through the front door like this. You have too many neighbors.”
“Robin, are you okay?” Nancy was pulling at the mask, she needed to see Robin’s eyes. She needed to know Robin was okay. But she didn’t look okay. She was barely standing, half of her weight being supported by the counter behind her.
“I’m fine.” She sighed as Nancy dropped the mask to the floor. But there were red bruises on her cheeks.
“You don’t look fine. Come here, you need to sit down. And you need to get this damned suit off.”
“Want to undress me already? I just got home, Nance.” Robin tried to smile but her face turned into a grimace when she tried to walk towards the couch.
“She’s still got jokes.”
“Always.”
“Come on, lean on me.” Their eyes locked and Robin’s expression softened, the pain vanishing for a brief second before returning full force. But she softly nodded and put one of her arms around Nancy’s shoulders. In return, Nancy carefully wrapped her arm around Robin’s waist and pulled her along one step at a time.
Once Robin sat on the couch, they maneuvered around each other to get the suit off, revealing a plethora of cuts and bruises and open wounds.
“Just give me a second. I’m gonna get the first aid kit.”
Robin was softly groaning when Nancy came back, falling to her knees next to the superhero.
“You ought to be more careful next time, babe.” Nancy whispered as she cleaned the wounds. Her fingers softly caressing the skin around them, careful not to cause anymore pain.
“But then we wouldn’t have these fun patching up moments. I really like the way your hands feel.” Robin sounded sleepy, exhaustion quickly overtaking her now that she was in the comfort of Nancy’s home.
“Well if you weren’t broken and bruised you could feel my hands in a lot more places and it would be a lot more pleasurable.”
Robin hummed with a smile. “I’ll heal.”
“You better.”
“And I’m fine. I’m sure we can have some fun.” One of Robin’s hands tangled into Nancy’s hair.
“Okay there, Casanova. You’re all patched up. Let’s get you to bed.”
“Take me to bed, Nancy Wheeler.”
Nancy took Robin into her arms, holding her upright and slowly walking towards the bedroom. She placed Robin on the bed, tucking her in. Just as Nancy tried to move away, Robin’s hand grabbed for her wrist, pulling her on top of her.
“Be careful.” Nancy laughed.
Robin didn’t reply. She simply leaned up, pressing her lips to Nancy’s. Their lips slotted together perfectly. Like they had always been meant to kiss each other. Sometimes Nancy liked to believe they had been.
“You need to get some rest.” Nancy pulled back slightly, stroking Robin’s bruised cheek.
“Doesn’t the hero get the girl?” Robin sighed, already trying to close the distance once again.
this was just a spur and out-of-the-blue thing from last week and i wanna continue it and hopefully finish this prompt soon (and maybe write more for the au? hmm, there's so much aus and stuff to write about pls siufhasdhf the ideas are endless)
i think this also counts for the poll i did in the past on what to write
This time we're going back to a spiderman AU, although it is a different one. We're going into the angsty depths of Spiderman: No Way Home. I was very tempted to change the ending but the prompt had said "basically just a little sad Robin and Nancy being oblivious to her" so that it is what this is. I would like to add that I would love to do a follow up on this. I have ideas!! (I don't have time but when has that ever stopped me?)
You can read my previous prompts or send me some new ones.
Robin stared into the bookstore. She hadn’t been here in a while. Not since everything that had happened. Not since Nancy forgot about her.
It had been the only way, but that didn’t make it hurt less. And it had been her own mistakes that had caused it, but that only made it hurt more. So, Robin had avoided Nancy’s place of work for all of one week. One week until she caved and had to go back. She had to see Nancy. Even if those gorgeous blue eyes wouldn’t recognize her. Couldn’t recognize her.
Things hadn’t been great for Robin this past week. She wondered if things could ever be great without Nancy right next to her.
It was one of those things that didn’t make sense. Her and Nancy had never made sense. Nancy had been the smartass and had been awfully lonely throughout High School. And Robin had been the same until a spider bit her and she turned into a superhero.
But even then, she hadn’t been interested in Nancy right away. She thought it was impossible to like Nancy right away. Nancy was one of those people that you gradually fell for. She didn’t give you a choice, she slowly crawled under your skin until you couldn’t think of anything else. Until all that mattered was Nancy Wheeler, and her gorgeous puffy perm, and her beautiful blue eyes, and her stern looks.
Anyway, back then Robin had been into Chrissy Cunningham. The head cheerleader and everyone’s favorite Hawkins High student. They had even been on a date or two before Chrissy moved away.
Robin had gotten everything she wanted and had lost it all just as quickly. And then Nancy had waltzed into her life with jokes that sounded a little too serious and questions that hit a little too close to the truth. And Robin fell in love. Quickly and all consuming. It had almost been enough to forget the end of the world.
It had almost been enough to abandon her superhero life. And she had wanted to. She had wanted to give up everything for Nancy. It didn’t make sense. But emotions barely ever did, did they?
For the briefest moment her life had been perfect once again. She was allowed to kiss Nancy behind closed doors, with smiles and giggles and whispers. And then she had fucked up. Because she was still a teenager and every teenager was bound to fuck up every once in a while. Only when Spiderman fucked up it ruined the world.
The only way to fix it was to make everyone forget about her. To make Nancy forget about her. And nothing had ever hurt that much. Nothing would ever hurt that much.
The bell above the door chimed as Robin entered. Her first instinct was to run back out.
“I’ll be with you in a moment,” Nancy voice called from somewhere out of view.
Robin stood frozen, just inside the store. Maybe she could still leave. Just quickly slip out. But she hesitated for a bit too long and then Nancy popped into view. There was a smile on her face and for a short second Robin could pretend she saw recognition in her eyes.
“You didn’t have to stay standing there,” Nancy laughed, approaching her. “What can I help you with? Looking for something specific or would you like some recommendations?”
“I—” Robin’s voice got stuck in her throat. It was a new problem. She had never before had trouble talking. Or maybe she had always had trouble talking, but she had never had any trouble coming up with words.
“Yes?”
“I— I would love some recommendations. What’s your favorite book?” Maybe Robin hoped the answer would be different from what she knew. Maybe if Nancy had changed it would be easier.
“I don’t know how much help that will be. I’m stuck in the past. I read The Princess Bride when I was 10 years old and I don’t think I’ll ever love a book as much.”
It stung. It stung that the answer was the same. It would have stung if it had changed. Life just stung nowadays.
“I heard they are making a movie of it. I’m not sure where I heard it and I don’t know if it’s true, but I just heard it somewhere and you mentioning the book reminded me of hearing it. I’m sure you’ve heard of it as well, since you’re a fan of the book.” Robin remembered telling her nearly three weeks ago now. She wasn’t sure if Nancy remembered. “Anyway, I love the Princess Bride. I used to have a copy and then it got lost or my parents threw it away. I’m not sure. I would love to read it again. Do you have a copy?” It seemed like Robin had found her words again. Too many of them.
“We do. I’ll get it for you.” Nancy turned around and walked away, but Robin could swear she saw a smile on the girl’s face.
Robin took a step forward, debating about whether or not she should follow. Behind her the door opened and closed.
“I’ll be right with you,” Nancy yelled. When she returned she was holding a hardcover book. One she nearly dropped when she saw the person that had just entered. “Steve?” She ran towards the boy and threw her hands around his neck. Robin watched as Nancy kissed his cheek and giggled. “Just one second, let me check out this costumer.”
Steve turned towards Robin and nodded politely. She remembered when Steve was her best friend. It felt like a lifetime ago. It felt like a dream.
Nancy had walked over to the register, punching in some numbers and telling Robin the total. She wasn’t paying attention. She paid without realizing it, just staring at Nancy’s slender fingers.
“It was nice to meet you, Nancy,” Robin said. It sounded sad and too vulnerable.
“It was nice to meet you too…”
“Robin.”
“It was nice to meet you too, Robin. I’ll see you around.” It sounded an awful lot like a promise. Robin wanted it to be a promise. But she noticed the look Nancy threw over her shoulder and she stopped believing in fairytales.
ty @hellsfireclub for tagging me, hope this is another thing that will kick myself into gear to write lol
Rules: Make a 24hr poll listing the titles of every WIP you want to work on. (It’s fine if you only have one, still make a poll for the vote count)
Tag anyone you think might also enjoy this game (No pressure of course)
Whichever WIP title gets the most votes, write 1 sentence for every vote received.
If somehow that completes the fic or reaches the end of a chapter, move to the WIP with the second highest votes and continue where you left off on your sentence/word count. Repeat until you reach your goal.
(Optional) Share what you wrote in a new Tumblr post with a link to the poll or in a reblog!
