I've finally been getting some recording done, just in my bedroom with a bit of gear I bought. I'm no audio engineer, or great guitarist, or great singer, but I enjoy the music I make - that's gotta count for something.
This is probably one of my favourite songs I've written. It's called Provenance. It's about wanting someone to be better, and the paths taken to try and find where we begin and end.
I like it, I hope some other people will to.
PS. I recorded 5 songs which I've put into a demo-esque thing, which you can download here.
I'll only ever speak to you in whispers
For I'm scared of what a louder voice would do
It'd shatter your bones, tear a hole through your soul
Or break your tiny, beating heart in two.
You're so delicate, girl, and one of these day you're gonna break
And when you do, my heart might go with you
So go on, tie your thoughts to lyricality
And sing them to the wind like you can tame them then leave them
Put your trust in your lies
At least you know their provenance
At least they know your provenance
If you can forgive yourself for every time you hurt yourself
Then maybe you'll start listening to me
I'm nobody's saviour, but I'll show the door
Through which we'll step to living oh so fancy free
But I can't stand
The way our every conversation goes
Like you loved me cause I loved you
Yet I'm unknown
So go on, tie your thoughts to lyricality
And sing them to the wind like you can tame them then leave them
Put your trust in your lies
At least you know their provenance
At least they know your provenance
Try to be someone that would deserve your love
Then drown out all your regrets with alcohol and cigarettes
Listen to the radio to paint a picture of your soul
Do you really know your provenance?
I'll keep singing to the wind til it answers back
