Title: Red string of fate
Pairing: Peter Parker x reader
Summary / Request: Soulmate AU with the string of fate, you know?
Note: Day three of my Birthday-special. Let me know if you want to get tagged in my upcoming Posts!:)
(Y/bf/n) - your best friends name.
“There”, they said, while they took your right hand and wiggle with your little finger, “can't you see it? It's a bright red bow with an endlessly long string”
They told you in the morning, right before class started, but you couldn't see anything. You blamed it on your tiredness.
After four hours of different subjects the bell rang all of you off to lunch. The Cafeteria was overfilled with other students and even a few teachers, which stood there to watch the teens eat their lunch.
You walked through the entrance with your best friend, hooked up in your arm, while you head to the small grassland before your school building.
“Is it still there?” You two sat down on the freshly mown grass, holding your right hand in the air.
“Yep” (Y/bf/n) said shortly, laying down beside you.
You pulled out your phone, turning it on and bite on your lower lip. You looked though Instagram and Tumblr, but tapping away your thoughts wasn't really working.
Why couldn't you see it, while everyone else could?
Why was it there, in the first place?
You eyed your right little finger skeptically, where your best friend touched you today.
“Why don't you have one?”, you looked at (y/bf/n), but they only shrugged their shoulders.
“I don't know, girl. Wanna follow it?” their look changed from relaxed to curious.
“What? No. What if it leads to something dangerous? You know, red is the color for CAUTION! DANGER!, (y/bf/n). I won't let me get caught in some scary shit”, you talked their suggestion down.
Of course, you were as curious as they were, but you were a little bit scared, too.
“It could also lead you to the love of your life, (y/n), 'cause red is ALSO the color of Loooove~”, they chimed, forming a heart with their fingers and moved it in front of your face.
“Still…”, you laid your hand over theirs, pushing it away “I don't want to follow it. Maybe it's attached to someone else? What if it just… lose itself? What if it's all messed up with hundreds of knots?”
“Okay, cut that bullshit with those 'what if'. We'll chase it after school, so don't have plans, babe”
“That's ridiculous…”, you mumbled, eying the yellow ship. “Why would it lead me to a fucking ferry?”
(y/bf/n) shrugged their shoulders. “Did you ever try to google it?”, they asked suddenly, catching you off-guard.
“No? I just got to know that I even have it? But I think a try wouldn't hurt, right?” You slide your phone out of a pocket from your pants and tapped on it, googling what a red string means. “So… it seems like it's something like a red string of fate? A Chinese belief, which ties two soulmates together?”
“Oooh, so your soulmate has to be on that ferry!”
“I don't want to know it anymore, (y/bf/n)” your face shows a range of worry.
“Why not, little love? I'm here if it's a creep. I’ll beat him if it’s Flash”, they laugh, bumping their shoulder lightly against yours.
“No, the belief says that those soulmates would marry each other one day”
“Okay, listen, girl”, your friend laid their hands on your shoulders and looked in to your eyes. “We can go and look who it would be. I can see your thread, so I can tell you who it is. You don't have to talk to them, but, please just take a look. I'm dying because of my curiosity!”, they begged you.
“Okay, BUT we'll only take a look!”
Your best friend leads you to the passenger area, where you could take a seat or go outside to breath in the refreshing breeze.
You decided to stay in this area, because someone caught your attention.
Someone with a khaki colored hat.
A sophomore student of your high school, who’s in the school's academic decathlon, alongside with Liz, Flash and some other smart students. He normally hangs out with one of them, but it seems like he isn't here, so you took the hand of your best friend and sat next to him.
“All alone here, Ned?”, your kind voice pulled his attention from the big panorama-window to you.
“Oh, eh, no… Actually, I'm here with Peter”
Peter Parker. Apparently, the smartest student of Midtown High School and a beloved member of the decathlon team.
“He… had to… use the restroom?”, Ned lied, as he looked anywhere but your eyes.
Right before you could say another sentence, the ship broke.
Like, literally, it broke apart. There was a high-pitched sound, an shocking explosion and some purple lights, which cut the whole ship in his length in two pieces. It happened in seconds. The ships lower part filled with water, both sides threatened to keel over.
Pure panic was written over everyone’s faces and a little girl even got separated from her mother.
“I'll take care, watch out!”, you screamed to the young mom, as you took the little hand of her daughter. The woman on the other side of the ship thanked you, but was still terrified. Just as you.
Your best friend could take the hand of the girl, right before the ship finally broke in two and you fell in to the depth, towards some cars.
Seconds lasted like minutes, as you fell in sheer horror, knowing you wouldn't survive this impact. You closed your eyes, hoping it would be fast…
Instead of the hard hit of a car, you got caught by a masked hero, who everyone called Spider-man.
“Don't be afraid, I've got you!”, his voice was damped behind his mask. “I won't let you fall”
You couldn't see the lose expression of your best friend, as they saw your red string of fate tightly wrapped around you and your savior.
Bonus: Ned looked at (y/bf/n). “Don't tell her. Don't tell anybody!”. A knowing grin appeared on their lips. “You tell Peter, Nerd”
