What's the point of having artists numbers?

We have noticed that in traditional bangs, the identity of the author is concealed, but the artist is known. This means that the artist is left patiently waiting to find out their author, while the author has the knowledge and is able to find their artist’s social media and see their work prematurely. This doesn’t seem fair in our eyes. 

We’ve decided to keep everyone’s identity a secret in the claims process. All authors, betas, and artists have numbers that they are identified by during claims. Only the mods know who is who until team introductions are made.

Does that make sense?
